July 4th at Tahiti Village!

Day and night, family friendly Tahiti Village Resort is the place to be for a great July 4th holiday in Las Vegas. We’re serving up a batch of entertaining activities in and around our tropical beach pool, where you can beat the heat from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.  You’ll enjoy a disc jockey for the first part of the day, live music for the second, a face painter and a movie on the beach!

Our resident DJ will play your favorite tunes from noon to 4 p.m., after which guitarist Nick Mattera takes over for his popular acoustic set from 4 to 7 p.m. Befitting the holiday, get your face painted in stars and strips or the design of your own making from noon to 5 p.m.

Come nightfall, we’re showing a movie by the sand, the appropriately titled “Sandlot.” You’ll of course want to watch the spectacular fireworks display from the Strip, so be sure to head up to our 10th floor Sky View lounge. It’s the best view in the city!

Tahiti Village now has two drinks to call our own!

Tahiti Village Resort Las Vegas official drinksA delicious new drink made from a secret Bacardi recipe and an old favorite reimagined by our bar staff have become the official drinks of Tahiti Village, Las Vegas’ favorite tropical resort. Just in time for your summer imbibing pleasure, we are pleased to introduce the subtly sweet Tahitian Sunset and the zingy zesty Tahitian Mary.

TAHITIAN SUNSET

Our partnership with Bacardi has resulted in a drink that captures the tropical essence of Tahiti Village. When you order the Tahitian Sunset, you’re essentially getting Tahiti Village in a glass. Featuring refreshing Bacardi Lime rum and a mix of proprietary ingredients, the Tahitian Sunset is the perfect drink to enjoy by the pool, at the lazy river, on your balcony – or anywhere!

TAHITIAN MARY

Five years in the making and overflowing with 10 delectable ingredients, the Tahitian Mary – our over-the-top take on the popular Bloody Mary – is more than a match for any Vegas hangover. Garnished with jalapeño peppers pickled in-house and flavored with homemade Bloody Mary mix, the Tahitian Mary will have you feeling like your old self in no time.

The brainchild of our intrepid bar staff at 17˚ South Booze & Bites, the Tahitian Mary is the T-Rex of its species. In addition to the aforementioned jalapeños, it contains house vodka, green olives, lime and lemon wedges, bread and butter pickles, a celery stick, tajin and – as a telling testament to its exquisite excess – bacon! How we manage to get it all in the stylishly salted glass is beyond us.

With its ample spice notes, the Tahitian Mary isn’t a cocktail you would necessarily expect to find at tropical Tahiti Village. All we know is this: you’ll be happy you did!

Be sure to try the Tahitian Sunset or the Tahitian Mary on your next visit to Tahiti Village. Or better yet, both!

Celebrate National Travel & Tourism Week at family friendly Tahiti Village!

We live in a time when even the unlikeliest of subjects can receive a day commemorating their importance. In May alone we have Scurvy Awareness Day, Hug Your Cat Day* and National Lost Sock Memorial Day in addition to the traditional Cinco de Mayo. Here’s our take on the subject: If a lost sock can bag its own offbeat holiday, why can’t something as important to Americans as travel and tourism have an entire week to itself?

With the advent of National Travel & Tourism Week, now it does!

Spread over seven days in May, we’re celebrating the occasion at Tahiti Village, Las Vegas’ family friendly island paradise and home to more than 40,000 satisfied vacation ownership practitioners.

The theme of this year’s National Travel & Tourism Week is Travel Matters, whereby each of the seven days from May 5-11 is assigned a reason why Travel Matters (as determined by those high priests of the local tourism industry, the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority).

If you want to read in-depth analyses on why Travel Matters, please click here. You’ll learn why getting off your sofa and going places is so vital to our economy, jobs, health and families among other important reasons.

Sound good? Book a stay at family friendly Tahiti Village during National Travel & Tourism Week – or whenever you can get away!

*A close relative to National Hairball Awareness Day, which falls on April 29.

Mermaid and music mark the unofficial start of summer at Tahiti Village

Mermaid At Tahiti Village Pool Las VegasLast week’s return of CaySea the Mermaid and Acoustics and Ale to the tropical beach pool marked a welcome early start to summer here at family friendly Tahiti Village, Las Vegas’s tropical resort paradise. CaySea will entertain kids of all ages every Saturday from 1-2 p.m. Acoustics and Ale, featuring beer and a revolving cast of acoustic musicians, is every Thursday from 4-7 p.m.

Mermaid CaySea

CaySea, wholesome spawn of an unlikely union, made a big splash with Tahiti Village guests last summer, and we are thrilled to have her back this year. Although her origins were unknown and her motives unclear when she arrived unexpectedly at our pool gate last May, asking to be let in, CaySea’s charm and beauty cast a mesmerizing spell on our pool staff – and they had no choice but to acquiesce.

Once inside, she cut through the water like a born descendent of Poseidon, her speckled tail undulating like a piston, and she made a beeline for a group of children frolicking in the shallows near the sandy beach bottom entry. They immediately clustered around her and were instantly captivated by this most unusual creature. CaySea read them “tales” from her mermaid book and engaged in playful games featuring colorful plastic eggs.

To quote Mermaid CaySea herself, it was a “fin-tastic” fun time for all – and will be again!

Acoustics and Ale

When you think about great things that go great together, listening to music and quaffing a cold one has to be high up on anyone’s list. Add to that pairing a peaceful poolside setting and you get Acoustics and Ale, our weekly music and beer mixer featuring an array of eclectic (though not electric) musicians from Nick Mattera Productions. If you haven’t tried a Sierra Nevada Beer yet, be sure to grab one from the Sandbox Bar. You’ll understand why one of the first craft brewers in the nation is still going stronger than ever as you relax poolside listening to great acoustic sounds.

Make sure you don’t miss CaySea or Acoustics and Ale this summer. Book a visit to Tahiti Village!

Plan a summer visit to Tahiti Village, Las Vegas’ family friendly resort. We’ve got you covered!

With Las Vegas temperatures on the rise as winter gives way to spring and spring to summer, activity at family friendly Tahiti Village has started to stir in anticipation of the hot months ahead. Pool bars are beginning to reopen; the aquatics staff is reassembling en masse for another sizzling summer season at our tropical beach pool and Las Vegas’ largest lazy river; and everyone is counting the days till Memorial Day weekend, when our annual Summer Sunday Luau returns for another three months of dazzling entertainment and authentic, island-style cuisine.

The luau has been a popular summer event at Tahiti Village, Las Vegas’ premier Tahitian-inspired resort, for the last 10 years. A 7 p.m. start time means the temperature is still well over 100 degrees, and the sun is still bearing down on hundreds of uncovered heads. This year, we’re upping the comfort quotient for attendees with the installation of a two-piece tent cover that will stretch the length and width of the Island Courtyard.

The project is slated to begin shortly, and we hope to have it completed in time for the first luau of 2019 in late May. Check back here for updates. You’ll have it made in the shade!

Also in the works but yet to be officially confirmed is a biweekly summer music festival. Tentatively earmarked for Friday or Saturday night inside the Island Courtyard, the festival will feature a different performer or group for your listening pleasure. We’re told the festival is a virtual certainty if the tent project is completed in time.

One event we can confirm is our Food Truck Frenzy on April 20 in and around the Island Courtyard. You’ll enjoy an array of tempting choices from popular local food trucks and a selection of spirits from a variety of liquid joy dispensers.

Jan. 29, 2019, marks the first National Plan for Vacation Day, an idea that encourages Americans to plan their vacations early in the year and take them throughout the next 365 days. The Day is a leisure industry response to a curious trend that has seen Americans forego their vacation days, in many cases out of guilt, to work more often. In a nation of laborers who wear their work ethic like a badge of honor, vacations are well deserved but not often taken.

Book a visit to Tahiti Village and suffer no more from Guilty Vacation Syndrome!

The lazy river at Tahiti Village is one of our cures for Guilty Vacation Syndrome.
The lazy river at Tahiti Village is one of our cures for Guilty Vacation Syndrome.

Are you suffering from Guilty Vacation Syndrome, the nagging urge to cancel or delay vacations due to guilt? Based on the results of a recent family vacation survey, you probably are. It is especially likely if you’re a Millennial, 59 percent of which report feeling ashamed for taking or planning a vacation in a time when vacation-shaming in offices nationwide and around the word is growing at an unprecedented rate.

Of those 59 percent that reported having unused paid vacation days, 40 percent said they left five or more vacation days unused because they did not want to deal with the guilt associated with taking a vacation.

Neither are older individuals immune from the guilt. In the same survey, 41 percent of individuals 35 and older felt the same symptoms of Guilty Vacation Syndrome, or GVS. Symptoms (misplaced emotions, indecisiveness, sadness) often go undetected or are mistaken for other, less serious ailments. GVS can also have the ironic side effect impacting your work productivity.

Recent research also shows that an astounding 55 percent of Americans didn’t use all of their time off in 2015, and 65 percent say that their company discourages, sends mixed messages, or says nothing about taking personal time off.

With vacation-shaming growing in offices across the world, there has been a surge in diagnoses of GVS. Many feel that despite wanting a vacation, they shouldn’t take one.

Proven remedies for GVS include:

Realizing that vacations are a necessity and not a luxury.

Commit to an annual vacation—a recipe for stronger ties with families and friends, less stress and better health.

Learning from those that have never suffered from this malady (specifically, timeshare owners who have continued to make vacations a priority).

It’s proven that one to two weeks away from the daily routine leads to better job performance and productivity—perhaps helping to make your job even more secure when you return to it.

Our advice? Book a visit to Tahiti Village as soon as you can. Las Vegas is a number-one doctor-recommended cure for GVS. You certain to feel like a new you!
