Group of friends celebrating the 4th of July.

Get Ready for the 4th of July in Las Vegas

The 4th of July is a big deal in Las Vegas, so make sure you prepare for the party early! Whether your idea of fun is a huge pool party with stellar music and tasty food, or a night out at one of Vegas’ trendiest clubs, there is something for everyone in Las Vegas. Vegas does holidays right, so let’s fill you in on all the hot spots to cheer on the good ‘ol US of A!

Book Your Room

The Strip offers many hotel rooms and options for the intrepid traveler, but this area of Las Vegas tends to get crazy busy during holiday weekends, so you may want to consider a room that is just a bit off the Strip. A hotel in DTLV (Downtown Las Vegas) might be the answer, or a truly off-Strip location like Tahiti Village is always a terrific option. The benefits of staying away from the Vegas Strip when booking your hotel are numerous – including quieter sleeping hours, less crowds, and more affordable suites.

4th of July Activities in Las Vegas

You couldn’t possibly fit all the 4th of July-related activities into a couple of days, so make sure to create a list and check off a few venues and experiences that you consider must-dos. Here are some of our favorites:

  1. Relax by the pool. Sound anticlimactic? Sometimes there’s nothing better than spending a leisurely afternoon by the pool enjoying both the cool water and the toasty heat of the summer sun. If the water is calling your name, book a resort that has a big pool and plenty of amenities that’ll make your time in the sun unforgettable.
  2. Attend a Las Vegas pool party! On a warm, holiday weekend in Las Vegas, prepare for a massive selection of pool parties! Whether your ideal pool party involves getting loud with a thousand of your closest friends or sampling fine wine and small plates at an exclusive poolside enclave, Las Vegas has what you want.
  3. Check out a museum. While visiting a museum might not be the first holiday weekend activity that comes to mind, it’s going to be warm on the 4th and taking an occasional break from the heat will help keep your energy levels up and your body cool. Plus, there are dozens of incredible museums to check out in the area. From the fascinating Mob Museum to Madame Tussauds, the Bellagio Art Gallery to the Neon Museum, you’ll find a little slice of Las Vegas history – and some much needed A/C – when you take a detour to one of these local venues.
  4. Take in a show! The nightlife never stops in Las Vegas, and the week of the 4th is chock full of amazing shows. From David Copperfield’s intriguing acts to the seemingly-impossible stunts on display at any of the Cirque du Soleil shows each night, attending a show in Vegas is a great way to stay cool and witness the theatrics of a live performance.
  5. Watch the fireworks. Our inner child loves bright lights and big bangs, and the annual fireworks shows in and around the Vegas Valley never disappoint. Stroll the Strip for an up close and personal view of the Caesar’s Palace fireworks show (starts at 9:15pm on Saturday, June 30th), or head out toward Lake Mead and take in the Lake Las Vegas fireworks show on July 7th! You can catch more than one show if you’re planning to stay the entire week.

Things to Remember When Visiting Las Vegas for the 4th of July

-Keep in mind that it’ll be crowded, so mentally prepare for that aspect of the holiday week.

-It’s going to be warm, even at night. With daytime temperatures averaging 106 degrees in July, dress appropriately and have a plan that involves taking breaks inside or at the pool.

-Book now! It gets busy this time of year, so look for a resort that is near the center of town but isn’t on the Strip. You’ll generally get a much better deal on a room.

-Since the 4th lands on a Wednesday this year, plan on festivities starting on the Friday before and culminating on the 4th of July. Heading into town the weekend before ensures you’ll have access to the full calendar of events.

Whether this is your first time spending the 4th of July in Vegas or you’re a regular to Sin City, take the time to plan where you’ll stay and what you’ll do (even if that means planning to do nothing by the pool).

Getting Ready for the Vegas Summer Months: Tips & Tricks for Staying Cool

Summertime in Las Vegas means a couple things. First, there are endless possibilities when it comes to entertainment. Festivals? Check. Patio happy hour and brunch? Most definitely. Outdoor concerts and shows? You know it! Second, fun is in the air, and locals and visitors are soaking up these summertime activities. Lastly, it is HOT! With the average temperature being 105 degrees, you have to get crafty throughout the next few months when it comes to staying cool and having fun.

If you have no idea where to start, you’re in luck because Tahiti Village is here to provide you with tips and tricks for keeping cool as it heats up in the desert!

Tip 101° – Enjoy the Desert Oasis Options

The obvious first choice when it comes to keeping cool this summer is to dip your toes in the many pool options available in this amazing city. Whether you’re looking for a roaring good time, serenity poolside, or just a place to let loose and get your bronze on, then you’ve definitely come to the right place for the ultimate pool time experience. In Las Vegas there is no shortage of cool water and good times. But, what is your preference? Dayclub? Family friendly? Private? Whatever you want, this city will deliver. Below are a few options to please all personalities:

Dayclubs:

–Marquee Dayclub at The Cosmopolitan – If you’re looking for the ultimate pool party, then look no further! Marquee has everything it takes to throw the best pool day including music, pools, cabanas, and party-driven people. Enjoy this rooftop beach club for an adult-only good time every day from 11am until sunset.
–Rehab Beach Club at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas – Enjoy one of the best DJ dayclubs in Las Vegas at Hard Rock. Whether you want to see Borgore, Flo Rida, or DJ Five, Rehab Beach Club will be their host. Rent out a cabana or just enjoy the pool. Whatever you decide, you’re guaranteed to have a good time!
–Drai’s Beachclub at The Cromwell Las Vegas Hotel & Casino – Another rooftop pool party that you can’t pass up is Drai’s Beachclub. As you enjoy your daybed with a view of the Bellagio Fountains, you can take in the music, sip on your cocktail, and indulge in some poolside snacks. You really can’t go wrong when you spend the day at this Las Vegas dayclub.

Private & Relaxed:

–Bare Pool Lounge at The Mirage – If privacy is your main goal when keeping cool at the pool this summer, then head over to Bare Pool Lounge. Here you can enjoy a palm tree-enclosed oasis, perfect for the ultimate relaxation. So bare it all as you leave the heat and chaos of the Strip behind for the afternoon.
–Garden of the Gods Pool Oasis at Caesars Palace – Experience some of the most exclusive watering holes in all of Las Vegas at Caesars Palace. Here you will feel like a true god or goddess while lounging throughout this Vegas pool escape. Let your elegant self come out as you avoid the heat of the desert.

Family-Friendly:

–Pool & Lazy River at Tahiti Village – Featuring one of the longest lazy rivers in the desert and a Tahitian-themed pool, Tahiti Village offers the best options when it comes to cooling down as a family. Let the kids enjoy the lazy river fun while the parents lounge poolside and enjoy a well-deserved cocktail.
–Mandalay Bay Beach at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino Las Vegas – Who needs the actual beach when you have a Las Vegas-themed beach right at the beginning of the Strip! Here you can dip your toes in the water while also enjoying the sand between your toes. Bring the whole family out for the perfect desert beach day and listen to the sounds of the man-made waves.

Tip 102° – Hike at Mount Charleston

We know what you’re thinking, hiking in the desert during the summer doesn’t sound like very much fun. Well that’s because you’ve never hiked at Mount Charleston. The hike is about 40 miles away from Las Vegas and always 10-20 degrees cooler than the Strip, making it a unique summer activity. Here you can choose from many different trails in the wooded area of Las Vegas, and test your skills when climbing Mount Charleston herself. After you’ve conquered the mountain, enjoy a drink, a meal, and a place to relax at The Resort on Mount Charleston or Mt. Charleston Lodge. If you’re looking for the perfect family afternoon, a little exercise, or just need to get out and clear your mind, then Mount Charleston is your destination!

Tip 103° – Explore the Museums

If you’re looking to get more out of your vacation, then take advantage of the many museums that this amazing city has to offer. Not only are Las Vegas museums enriching and a great learning opportunity, they’re also air conditioned! Learn more about the history of the Mob at the Mob Museum located in Downtown Las Vegas, where you can browse through three levels of mob facts. After you’ve seen enough, head down to the basement and enjoy their newest addition, The Speakeasy.

Another show-stopping spot is the Las Vegas Art Museum. Here, you can dive deeper into the current culture of the city, and browse upon amazing pieces and exhibits. This Metropolitan Gallery is also located Downtown, so when you’re done taking in all the art, step back out into the heat and find the nearest bar for some ice cold drinks at happy hour.

If neither of these caught your eye, don’t worry! There are plenty of ways to have an educational and cool afternoon. Below are some other popular museums in Las Vegas:

–Discovery Children’s Museum
–Nevada State Museum
–Las Vegas Natural History Museum
–Burlesque Hall of Fame

Tip 104° – Shop Till You Drop

You’re on vacation, so it’s time to loosen the purse strings and buy that outfit that you’ve had your eye on. A great way to keep cool during your summer vacation in Vegas is to explore the shopping that this city has to offer. With everything from high end shopping to outlet options, Las Vegas has it all. If you don’t mind walking around outdoors and beating the heat as you jump from shop to shop, then explore Downtown Summerlin or Town Square (located right up the road from Tahiti Village)! These two options have a wide variety of shops, restaurants, bars, and entertainment.

If you’re looking to get out of the heat all together, then try out The Forum Shops at Caesars, The Miracle Mile Shops, Fashion Show, and plenty others. Even if you’re not in the market for anything specific, these shopping options have plenty of beautiful things to see. So put on your most comfortable shoes and get your shop on.

Tip 105° – Check Out a Las Vegas Show

If there’s one thing that Las Vegas really knows how to do, it’s entertainment. Beat the heat this summer by witnessing some of the amazing shows that our city has to offer. Whatever you’re looking for, Vegas can deliver. Enjoy a Cirque du Soleil show with music, acrobatics, art, and more. Or, if comedy is your show of choice, let Carrot Top get to your funny bone when performing at Luxor or laugh at Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club at MGM Grand. Anything you could possibly imagine, Vegas has it covered.

If magic is what you’re looking for, check out The Magic of Seth Grabel at Tahiti Village Resort every Monday evening. As a semi-finalist on America’s Got Talent, Seth offers a family-friendly show for all to enjoy. Witness wizardry in an amazing performance that will keep you guessing long after the show.

As you can see, there is no shortage of activities for a summer vacation in Las Vegas. When planning a trip to Vegas during the summer months remember to stay hydrated, apply sunscreen, and don’t underestimate the sun. After a day filled with activities, relax in your suite at Tahiti Village and get ready for a new day and new adventure.

Don’t Miss the 11th Annual Las Vegas Film Festival

The annual Las Vegas Film Festival attracts thousands of cinephiles to the Vegas Valley every year, and this year is sure to be just as, if not more, popular. Event partner CineVegas recently announced the festival’s compelling lineup of feature and documentary films and that, combined with a number of live events, is sure to make this year one for the books. The 11th Annual Las Vegas Film Festival will be held at Brenden Theatres and the Palms Casino Resort from June 6-10 and will include international films, independent projects, and live entertainment! Here’s a preview of what you can expect:

Featured Films

1. Clara’s Ghost – Written and directed by Bridey Elliott, Clara’s Ghost tells the story of Ted Reynolds, an aging comedian, who lives in a quiet rural community in Connecticut with his wife Clara. We’ll keep the majority of the storyline a secret, but let’s just say that a family party involving plenty of vodka and a supernatural spirit should lay the groundwork for an interesting story, to say the least.

2. Damsel – Written and directed by David and Nathan Zellner, this American Pioneer-era tale is part love story and part adventurous ode to Westward-Ho-Style spirit. Devolving into a treacherous journey across the Wild West to marry his true love, Samuel Alabaster’s (Robert Pattinson) story is one of heroes, damsels, and villains.

3. I Am Not a Witch – From the UK comes this intriguing story about an eight-year-old rural Zambian girl named Shula who shows up unannounced and alone in a rural village in Africa. The suspicious locals eventually try her for being a witch, and she is found guilty and sent to a witch camp. Shula must make an important decision – live on the witch camp, or risk it all and flee.

4. Nancy – Director and screenwriter Christina Choe delivers a taught psychological thriller that leaves the audience guessing until the end. Nancy is a disconnected individual who creates elaborate false identities using names found on the Internet. But when she runs across a couple who may or may not have been a part of her life many years ago, the line between fact and fiction begins to blur.

5. Sadie – Sadie comes to us via director Megan Griffith’s vision of a military spouse’s own personal battles on the homefront during her spouse’s deployment. Young Sadie, determined at all costs to ensure her family stays together while her father is away serving in the military, is played with fire and vitriol by Sophia Mitri Schloss. When a new guy starts showing affection toward her mother, Sadie sees him as the enemy… an enemy that deserves no mercy.

6. The Unicorn – Director Robert Schwartzman brings us a lighter piece of cinematic fare that is bound to elicit laughs and groans alike from the audience. Caleb and Malory take a trip to Palm Springs to celebrate Malory’s parents’ 25th anniversary, where they discover that her parents have been “threesome-practitioners” for decades. Determined to have as solid a relationship as Malory’s parents, the two set out in search of a willing threesome partner.

7. When She Runs – Independently-created and bound to be a hit at this year’s festival, When She Runs is the story of a young mother of limited means who risks it all to become a competitive runner. She’s broke, her marriage is falling apart, and she’s moved away from her husband and young son. Will she fail, or will she change her life forever?

Other films showing at the 11th Annual Las Vegas Film Festival include documentaries like John McEnroe: In the Realm of Perfection, Minding the Gap, Narcissister Organ Player and Sammy Davis, Jr.: I’ve Gotta Be Me.

Live events include Bobcat Goldthwait and Friends Live, Christine Vachon in Conversation with Mary Ann Marino, An Evening with Don Hertzfeldt, and The Rudy Casoni Boozebag Revue.

Other events and special screening will be announced over the next few weeks, but the VIP ALL ACCESS PASS and the FILM PASS are on sale right now! Visit www.lvff.com to reserve your spot and book your room at Tahiti Village early for the busy weekend.

How much longer are we keeping the gold in our Tahiti Village logo? Unteal the Vegas Golden Knights complete their historic run!

What began as a short-term mandate from the Mayor to ban teal in Las Vegas during the Golden Knights’ playoff series with the teal-clad San Jose Sharks has received an indefinite extension at Tahiti Village.

Rather than restore the teal to our logo following the Knights’ second round NHL playoff ouster of the Sharks, as initially planned, we are instead keeping the replacement gold for as long as the Knights remain alive in their quest for the Stanley Cup.

“Although teal is one of our branded Tahiti Village colors, as a proud partner of the Knights, we will maintain the gold in our logo for the rest of the season,” said Aaron Lewis, Somerpointe Resorts Director of Marketing. “Besides, we think the gold is starting to look pretty good on us!”

Tahiti Village invites Golden Knights fans to participate in its Somerpointe Resorts Golden Knights Giveaway for the chance to win Knights merchandise, game tickets, and Somerpointe Resorts Las Vegas room stays, including the grand prize “High Roller Package” for two. Lucky winners will receive two VIP glass seats, allowing them to get up close and personal with their favorite players.

If your mother prefers a more typical (and upscale) shopping experience, visit Fashion Show Mall on the Strip or the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian.

-Treat Your Mom to a Spa Day

If your mom is in need of some much-deserved relaxation, she’s sure to find it at Mahana Spa. Here, she can relax, rejuvenate and revive with therapeutic treatments inspired by the tropics and the rainforests. Mahana Spa offers a variety of massage, facials and therapeutic skin treatments. Hoping for something on the Strip? Send her for a treatment to the Sahra Spa at the Cosmopolitan. This ultra luxurious spa offers massages, whirlpools, steam rooms, heated stone loungers, and more. Try a cleansing detox, or be invigorated with essential oils.

-Admire the Art

Talk a stroll through 18b, the Las Vegas Art District, and soak up all of the art and culture you never knew existed in Las Vegas. This cultural hub offers indie art galleries, unique performance spaces, tasty restaurants, and bohemian bars.  18b’s major venues include the Arts Factory and Art Square, where the intimate Cockroach Theatre stages independant and offbeat plays. Visitors will notice that the buildings are adorned with graffiti art that reflects the culture of this vibrant neighborhood.

-See a Show

Leave your mother in awe with the music, illusion, and acrobatics of a Cirque du Soleil show, a classic that has been delighting audiences for over 20 years. There are seven different themes to choose from on Mother’s Day weekend. These 90-minute shows run all year long and will suit every taste and age group. If your mom is a music lover, allow her to get “On The Floor” at Jennifer Lopez, break out her inner “Tiny Dancer” at Elton John, or “Turn Back Time” at Cher.

-Explore the Great Outdoors

Go the easy route and take a 13-mile, one way scenic drive through Red Rock National Recreation Area. Red Rock Canyon offers hiking and trails, plants and wildlife, geology, and camping. Admire the gorgeous rock formations and if you are up for it, take an easy walk through Calico Basin.

If your mom enjoys water sports, take her kayaking at Black Canyon. Arizona Hot Springs, as well as a few other hot springs, can be reached by kayak. Several local kayak rental companies like Desert Adventures will drop you off below the Hoover Dam and pick you up 12 miles downstream at Willow Beach. Enjoy the ride, but be sure to stop and relax in the hot springs, explore side canyons, and allow the current to push you downstream.

Horses racing in a past Kentucky Derby.

Kentucky Derby, Vegas Style

It’s finally springtime in the desert, and with the spring season comes many activities and events that we’ve been waiting for. One of the most popular and anticipated May sporting events is the Kentucky Derby, held on the first Saturday of May! Known as America’s favorite race, the Kentucky Derby is a national spectacular. The race dates back to 1872 and has secured itself not just as a sporting event, but as a celebration of Southern culture and American pride. Even though the Kentucky Derby is held across the country in, well, Kentucky, Las Vegas still knows how to celebrate this great American sport.

Read on to learn more about where you can place your bets, enjoy a mint julep, and cheer on your favorite horse (ladies, don’t forget your hats!). Get ready for the best and fastest two minutes in sports, because the races are in town!

Lagasse’s Stadium

Located at The Palazzo, Lagasse’s Stadium has changed the definition of “sports bar” in Las Vegas. Not only is this location a sportsbook, but it’s also a restaurant and entertainment mecca. As you enter this luxurious stadium-style bar, you’re greeted by roughly 100 HD televisions and top-notch seating designed for your ultimate viewing pleasure. Enjoy the Kentucky Derby to the fullest with food, drinks, and fun.

The stadium menu is filled with a variety of dishes created by Chef Emeril and no matter what you choose, you can’t go wrong with these delicious choices! Choose an appetizer like chicken wings, Bavarian pretzels, or spinach and artichoke dip from the tailgating section, or dive right into main courses like baby back ribs, char-grilled ribeye steak, and much more. In previous years, Lagasse’s Stadium has hosted special viewing parties in their ultimate sports haven, equipt with food and drink specials. There’s no telling what they have up their sleeve this year, but we’re certain that it’s nothing short of spectacular!

The D Hotel & Casino

Our next Kentucky Derby hub is located in Downtown Las Vegas. The D Hotel & Casino is located in the heart of Fremont Street and impossible to miss. Not only does the D have an amazing vibe, but it has a variety of bars where you can watch the race. After grabbing a beer or cocktail at LongBar, make your way to the Vintage Vegas section located on the 2nd level of the casino and enjoy the classic Sigma Derby game or indulge in the new and improved Fortune Cup Mechanical Horse Racing. To pre-game the real race, cheer on your mechanical horses before routing for your Kentucky Derby horse! The D Hotel & Casino has you covered when it comes to your favorite pastimes as the Downtown Las Vegas sports hub.

Double Helix Wine & Whiskey Lounge

Looking for the perfect mix of food and drinks in the ultimate social setting? Look no further than Double Helix Wine & Whiskey Lounge, located inside Town Square at the south end of the Strip. Since putting down roots in 2011, Double Helix has introduced a variety of tapas dishes, an unforgettable patio atmosphere equipped with firepits, and a fun and carefree vibe for tourists and locals alike. Although this Las Vegas bar only has a few televisions scattered throughout the lounge, they make up for it with plenty of whiskey! So, grab a glass of bourbon (we recommend Woodford Reserve) and enjoy the Kentucky Derby with new friends at this unique and lively Las Vegas lounge.

Beer Park

Another great location to enjoy sports, drinks, and Vegas fun is Beer Park, the rooftop bar located at Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. Here, you can enjoy a view of the Strip and Bellagio Fountains, games, derby-themed cocktails, and racing! This year, Beer Park will be hosting a rooftop viewing party for all the Kentucky Derby watchers. Enjoy a mint julep bar all day, complimentary champagne thanks to Veuve Clicquot, and a special trumpet performance starting at 9am on May 5th. Not only can you enjoy the horse race from dozen of HD televisions, viewable from every seat, but you can also partake in live betting at the Beer Park’s in-house sportsbook. Beer Park also encourages viewers to take part in the Kentucky Derby’s classic attire (cue big floppy hats and leisure suits!) for the ultimate horse racing day.

Tahiti Village

Don’t forget to enjoy the Kentucky Derby from your own personal beach vacation. At 17° South Booze & Bites, viewers can grab a variety of delicious food while washing it down with a drink from the bar. Not only do they offer widescreen televisions throughout the venue and 24 beers on tap, but there’s also patio seating that overlooks the resort’s beach pool. So, let the kids enjoy the pool while you enjoy a Kentucky Derby cocktail.

Enjoy one of America’s greatest sporting events in the Entertainment Capital of the World and learn how to celebrate the Kentucky Derby Vegas style. With so many sportsbooks and viewing parties in town, you’ll have a good time no matter where you post up on the first Saturday of May.
