Tahiti Village welcomes our CES visitors

LAS VEGAS – New gadgets, from the helpful (robot assistants) to the hopeful (autonomous vehicles) to the hair-raising (a follicle-stimulating helmet), are drawing visitors by the hundreds of thousands to the annual Consumer Electronics Show, which opened here today.

To all you attendees staying with us at Tahiti Village, we welcome you to our South Pacific-themed resort and hope you have a wonderful time during the convention. We are delighted you chose us as your CES headquarters.

If it wouldn’t be too big an imposition, could you please pick us up a few things from this year’s show? We’ve provided brief descriptions and photos so you’ll know what to look for. Thanks!

Vibrating shorts

These short shorts, sure to change the legless pants industry as we know it, contain two vibrating sensors on the belt, which connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth and help you navigate tricky urban environments by buzzing when you need to turn left or right. For those of us who do not know our left from our right, this is helpful technology indeed.

Levitating speakers

Ever since we saw The Exorcist we’ve been simultaneously fascinated and horrified by the sight of things normally grounded by gravity floating weightlessly in the air. So when we heard about levitating speakers, we knew we just had to have a look.

Here’s how it works: Powerful electromagnets housed inside an accompanying levitation station keep the speaker suspended in the air until the battery begins to run low, at which point the speaker descends to the levitation station and begins to charge wirelessly all by itself and with no interruption in the music.

What will they think of next? Answer …

Selfie drones!

These things are surprisingly affordable, making it even easier to indulge in our narcissism.

Virtual reality shoes

“Haptic feedback” and vibrations give you the sense of walking on the virtual surfaces you see in front of you when you don this special footwear. Now we can finally walk across a bed of flaming hot embers, building vital team camaraderie without suffering any of the agony.

Talking refrigerator

We need help sticking to our New Year’s resolution to eat healthier. What better than a talking refrigerator to guilt you into grabbing an apple? This gabby food box can also read out recipes, tell you when you’re running low on certain items, and dish out recipe suggestions based on its contents. Mmm, ice cream!

Thank you once again for staying at Tahiti Village. Have a great week!

Las Vegas New Years Celebration!

How do you distinguish New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas from any other night? Not easily. We are a city for which New Year’s revelry is a daily occurrence in spirit if not fact, so in order to meet the expectations of 300,000 or so visitors hoping for an even greater adrenaline rush, we are obligated to up our game. Is that even possible?

It is! There is an abundance of New Year’s Eve festivities in Las Vegas, highlighted by an eight-minute fireworks display above the Strip at midnight. So if you’re staying with us over the holiday and looking for something to do on NYE, you won’t suffer for options. Just click here for all the information.

It has been a great 2016 here at Tahiti Village, and we wish you all a happy and healthy New Year. We hope to see you in 2017!

Things to do in Vegas During Christmas

When you think of a festive Christmas destination, does Las Vegas immediately come to mind? If it doesn’t, take a look at our list of things to do during your time in Vegas this Christmas. And then, see if a jaunt around the city doesn’t sound like the perfect way to spend time with friends or family during the holidays.

Cowboy Christmas Gift Show

The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is a major draw in December in Las Vegas, and it acts as the perfect backdrop for the Cowboy Christmas Gift Show. This show is a 440,000 square-foot exhibit of western-themed gifts. You’ll find the Cowboy Christmas Gift Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center every year around Christmas time. This year, it will take place December 1-10.

Cactus Garden Lighting

Las Vegas is in the desert. Cacti live in the desert. Therefore, it makes sense to decorate cactus groves with Christmas lights, right? The folks over at the legendary Ethel M Chocolate factory sure think so, and they deliver a fun and whimsical take on the traditional Christmas decoration philosophy. Check out the lights, then stick around and try some of their handmade chocolates.

Ride the High Roller

The iconic High Roller Ferris wheel, the largest in the world, gets the full holiday treatment during the Christmas season as it is embellished with almost 2,000 vivid LED lights. See all of Las Vegas from 55 stories high, and take in the vistas from comfortable pods instead of open air seats. Located right on the Strip, you can’t beat the views.

Go to the Islands

Ok, you’re not really going to go to the islands, but have you considered that you can experience a tropical oasis just minutes from the Strip? That’s right, what better way to amp up the excitement of the holiday season than by scheduling a visit to Tahiti Village Resort & Spa to indulge in a Christmas experience involving palm trees, shimmering pools, sumptuous food and a relaxed ambiance? Celebrate the season with some island style.

Live Music Venues

There are several amazing places to enjoy live music in Las Vegas, but for the ultimate experience this Christmas, head down to Fremont Street and see why this area is quickly becoming the hub for entertainment in Vegas. Headline-worthy acts are on the roster throughout the Christmas week and New Year’s Eve brings even more opportunity to rock out to your favorite group. From big name acts to tribute bands, you’ll find an eclectic mix when you discover Fremont Street during the holidays.

Las Vegas is the place to be this Christmas, especially if you’re looking for new and exciting things to do to cap off 2016. From music to museums, dining to dancing, you’ll find it all this holiday season in Las Vegas.

Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle While on Vacation

Eating healthy… Exercising… Staying hydrated – all while on your Vegas vacation? Does this sound like a recipe for a dull, monotonous jaunt away from home? Or, are these smart ways that can help us feel good and maintain a healthy lifestyle while on vacation?

For many travelers, a vacation equals a guilt-free experience that involves buffet lines, ice cream shops, or bars with any thoughts about healthy eating and exercise frequently left at home. But it doesn’t have to be like this. By following a few simple guidelines, you’ll find that keeping healthy while traveling is quite easy.

Healthy Eating

When it comes to managing your health while on vacation, what you put into your system is one of the main considerations. If you’re traveling to Las Vegas and think that the only options are buffets or unhealthy restaurants, think again. You can find healthy eats at 17° South Booze & Bites at Tahiti Village. Lean sirloin steak, crisp, green salads, and other healthy options are expertly prepared and will leave you feeling satisfied without the extra calories.

Or, head over to SkinnyFats – an innovative restaurant whose menu features half “skinny” choices and half “fat” choices. This option allows you to cater to anyone in the group. You can also try EATT, a new dining spot that delivers a healthier take on French food, located in the West Valley.

The bottom line is: there are numerous options, if you’re looking to dine out without resorting to unhealthy choices or over-the-top buffets. One way to minimize the intake of “bad foods” is to follow the rule of never eating two bad meals in a row. Follow a heavier meal with a salad or smoothie instead of another calorie-laden option.

Move Around

Though you can take cabs, shuttles, monorails, and more around Las Vegas, try to move as much as possible. You can preemptively burn off calories by heading to the pool and taking an early morning swim, then head over to the in-resort fitness center to do some lightweight training. You’ll not only feel great after a quick workout or walk around the city, but you’ll be less likely to want to counteract your exercise by eating poorly. Find a resort that offers a pool and fitness center to help you stay active.

Relax and Rejuvenate

After your exercise, there’s no better way to unwind than getting a massage at the spa. Tahiti Village’s Mahana Spa offers a variety of massage packages, including Tahitian hot stones, aromatherapy, deep tissue massage, and the signature Mahana relaxation massage. And, of course, no spa visit is complete without getting a facial as well. All of Mahana Spa’s facial treatments are fully customizable for your skin’s unique needs.

Keep it Fun

Just because you’re on vacation doesn’t mean you can’t indulge. If you get off track, just make a healthier choice the next time around. It’s all about balance after all. Las Vegas is a city of fun and you won’t want to miss a moment.

Rodeo Week for the Whole Family

Las Vegas is home to one of the finest rodeo experiences on Earth – one that is fun for the whole family! This week-long event is held each year at the Thomas & Mack Center, and the 2016 National Finals Rodeo (NFR) series runs from December 1st to the 10th. If you’re staying in Las Vegas during this ten-day stretch, make sure that you carve out some time for one of the most sought-after sporting events of the year.

How to Order Tickets

Visit the TicketCity’s National Finals Rodeo page, where you can select from among a wide range of seats located throughout the Thomas & Mack Center. Ticket prices range from $59 all the way up to several hundred. Though the center holds about 17,000 people during the rodeo, you’ll still want to order tickets in advance to ensure you get in.

Where Should I Sit?

The Thomas & Mack Center delivers a terrific experience from almost any seat in the house, with seats available in the upper level (sections 201-236) for those who like a bird’s eye view of all the action. If you want to feel the action more closely, consider purchasing tickets in sections 101-122, with 101 and 122 positioned right at the Bucking Chute and 110-112 located near the Roping action. There isn’t a bad seat to be had, but those closer to the floor will deliver a more intense experience.

What Events Are Scheduled?

The top fifteen money-winners in each of seven unique events will compete each day. The events include bareback riding, bull riding, saddle bronc riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, team roping, and barrel racing. This prestigious rodeo will ultimately decide which cowboys will earn the gold buckle and raise their arms as world champions for the year.

How Do I Get There?

If you’re visiting from out of town and staying at a local hotel, there are several complimentary shuttle buses that will pick you up and drop you off at the Thomas & Mack Center. Buses pick up from both the Strip and downtown Las Vegas – or hop in a taxi to get to the event. You can rent a car, too, but only consider this option if you’re planning on using it for another trip during the week. Public transportation abounds in Vegas.

Vegas is typically known for more adult-focused entertainment, but there is plenty of kid-friendly activities to add to your itinerary. The 2016 National Finals Rodeo is an exhilarating experience for those of all ages, so pack your boots and cowboy hats, order your tickets today, and get ready for a Western-themed day of excitement that will provide rich memories for years.
