Consumer-Electronic-Show-Las-Vegas

The Best of CES 2016 in Las Vegas

The International Consumer Electronics show is one of the most anticipated events in the tech world, representing the best and brightest tech companies and products from 153 countries.

More than 170,000 people from around the world attended this year’s CES looking to try out some of the most innovative and exciting products. The 2016 CES highlights the cutting edge technology that has grown exponentially since last year’s convention. Here’s are some of the most exciting and innovative products from this year’s CES.

The Faraday Future Car

Faraday Futures, a Chinese-backed electric car company, hopes to build mass-market cars to compete with Tesla on the global market. On Monday night, they introduced their concept car, the FF Zero 1. This 1,000-hp powerhouse contains just a single seat, reminiscent of an airplane cockpit.

The company employed a modular design in the FF Zero 1, the same design it hopes to use on their production cars of the future. This isn’t the last we’ll hear of Faraday Futures. In fact, they’ll be breaking ground on a North Las Vegas factory later this month.

Samsung Family Hub Smart Refrigerator

Now you can find out what’s in your fridge while you’re at the supermarket. The Samsung Family Hub Smart Refrigerator can also stream music, take notes, remind you of appointments, and even keep your food cold!

It’s the first third-party appliance to feature Amazon’s Alexa, the digital personal assistant that will answer all your questions, and make being in the kitchen a lot more fun.

The Fitbit Blaze

Although much smaller, the new rival of the Apple Watch, the Fitbit Blaze is just as exciting. The Blaze offers many of the same features as the Apple Watch — you can make calls, read texts, and plan your day.

Except the Blaze has some added features that make it noteworthy. Now you can customize workout routines, monitor your heart rate, and optimize your sleep without lifting a finger.

Looking Ahead to CES 2017

Want to start planning your 2017 CES adventure? Here are some tips to help you navigate both Las Vegas and the convention.

Register early

The dates are set, and you can plan on being in Vegas from January 5-8, 2017. Tickets usually go on sale in October, and you will save between $200 and $300 if you buy your tickets before the end of December.

Plan Your Transportation

Taxis, Uber, the RTC transit system, and hotel shuttles are all great ways to get around Vegas during the show. Be aware if you do use Uber that Las Vegas limits pick-up locations.

Accommodations

As CES is one of the largest conventions to come to town, it’s crucial that you plan and book accommodations in advance.

For easy access to all that CES has to offer, plan your stay at Tahiti Village. It’s just a few minutes from the Las Vegas Convention Center, making commuting a breeze and it has all the amenities you will need during your stay.

CES is one of the most exciting and anticipated events in Vegas. Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of cutting-edge tech and discover the best CES has to offer.

Tips for Celebrating Black Friday in Las Vegas

The holidays are a time of family, food, fun — and shopping! If you’re going to be in Vegas during the Thanksgiving holiday, make sure to take advantage of the incredible Black Friday deals and events happening throughout the city. Here are a few helpful tips to make sure you get the most out of Black Friday in Las Vegas.

Plan Ahead

It is never too early to plan ahead for Black Friday shopping. As many stores open hours earlier than usual, it is important to do some research online ahead to time to confirm. Also, some stores may offer special sales, discounts and other promotions for the first group of customers in the store. Knowing which stores you want to visit can be immensely helpful when it comes to creating an efficient shopping itinerary.

Use Apps and Social Media

Many Las Vegas retail stores offer special coupon codes and promotions for customers who visit their social media pages. For example, Las Vegas Premium Outlets (both North and South) have Facebook pages where customers can learn about seasonal events, sales, and deals.

This is perfect for high-volume shopping days like Black Friday. Price-comparison apps like Purchx, Red Laser, and Shop Savvy give you a fast and easy way to compare deals right on your smartphone.

Avoid the Strip

Don’t fall into the trap of shopping on the Strip this Black Friday. Not only will it be packed with people from morning to night, but you may not find the best deals there. Although the Vegas Strip is a dazzling destination sure to enthrall any visitor to the city, it’s not necessarily the cheapest place to shop. While you might want to stop here for a souvenir or two, save the bulk of your holiday shopping for the more affordable stores in the area.

Opt for Outlet Malls

Las Vegas is home to some fabulous outlet malls — notably, Las Vegas Premium Outlets North and South. At these outlet malls, you’ll find the brands you love marked down 25 to 65 percent (or sometimes even more) below regular retail. On Black Friday, you’re guaranteed some amazing once-a-year deals with these and other outlet malls in the city. With an amazing array of stores, it is easy to find gifts for everyone on your list.

Shopping on Black Friday can be overwhelming, but these tips will help ensure you can get what you want from the busiest shopping day of the year. For great accommodations, right in the heart of all the Las Vegas action, Tahiti Village is sure to please. Book now for a resort with every amenity you need to make your Vegas trip truly outstanding.

Tips of Conference Traveling with Your Family

For those who travel for business, whether it is for a meeting or conference, it is often difficult to leave the family behind. Conference traveling with you family can be a great way to take care of business needs and mix in some fun family time as well. Traveling to Las Vegas for a business meeting or conference provides a great opportunity to include your family on one of these trips. Here are some tips to ensure that your family conference trip goes as smoothly as possible.

Pack Light

Keeping luggage light is one of the easiest ways to reduce travel hassles. Take only what you need, and encourage your family to do the same. To maximize suitcase space, bring travel-size toiletries and roll clothing rather than folding it. If you find that there are things you need after reaching your destination, Las Vegas is filled with places to shop for everything from drugstore items to couture fashions.

Always Stay Flexible

Staying flexible is crucial to achieving both maximum efficiency and enjoyment when conference traveling with your family. Don’t expect the same routine as when you’re traveling alone, especially if you are traveling with children. Also, instead of enforcing your usual itinerary on your family, consider their suggestions when it comes to where to eat and what to do.

Keep Mealtimes in Mind

When visiting Vegas alone, you can dine according to your whims. When visiting with family, it is highly recommended to plan meals ahead of time. Planning ahead not only helps keep the kids happy, but it can also save you money. Search for Las Vegas restaurants with a “kids eat free” promotion to save money and don’t be afraid to change up your usual cuisine choices for more kid-friendly fare. Sure, you might prefer a sophisticated sushi restaurant over a burger joint — but the latter option will likely offer cuisine that’s universally popular with youngsters.

Separate Family Time and Business Time

It is crucial to keep family and work separate. If your clan is on their own while you’re taking care of business, plan activities for them to enjoy ahead of time. Many resort-style hotels have swimming areas ideal for keeping your group entertained while you’re working. For example, Tahiti Village has a tropical-themed pool area featuring a lazy river your family will love. If you can devote an entire day to family sightseeing, do so. Las Vegas is filled with fabulous family-appropriate attractions you don’t want to miss.

Choose the Right Accommodations

Good accommodations make all the difference when conference traveling with family. At Tahiti Village, you’ll enjoy spacious suites, premium quality beds and linens, and a plethora of convenient amenities. Rooms come equipped with ample seating, a microwave, a coffee maker, and much more. Dining options at this resort-style hotel range from casual to upscale while entertainment is only a shuttle ride away.

Book with Tahiti Village for your next family conference to enjoy convenience and comfort in a luxurious yet family-friendly atmosphere!

Las Vegas Strip

Benefits of Living in Las Vegas

As your vacation draws to a close, you pack your suitcase, say farewell to the glittering lights of the Strip and head back home. Along with your luggage, you are likely also carrying back with you some fond memories of the desert city. After an unforgettable vacation it’s only natural you may be thinking about making your next stay in Vegas a more permanent one. Here are just a few of the benefits you may enjoy by living in Las Vegas.

Entertainment

As an occasional visitor you are likely already familiar with one of the best features of living in Las Vegas—the entertainment. As a resident you could be reveling in your favorite Vegas activities anytime you want, whether that means playing the odds at the casinos, partying the night away at the clubs or enjoying one of the many unparalleled shows offered year round.

Food

If you are a foodie at heart, you will love having access to some of the finest and most diverse restaurant choices in the world. From the whimsical Le Cirque, a French restaurant housed in the Bellagio, to the elegant and fashionable Sage, where Chef Shawn McClain serves up a seasonal menu of creative American fare, there is no end to the delicious experiences waiting for you.

The Weather

Vegas enjoys an abundance of sunny days, averaging about 292 a year. Even during the winter, the temperature generally reaches close to 60 degrees, allowing you to easily continue your favorite outdoor activity in any season. Since there are some great national parks nearby, you can use some of those sunny days to go boating on Lake Mead, rock climbing in Red Rock Canyon or hiking in Zion National Park.

No State Income Tax

What more can be said? Since the state’s treasury is in large part funded by taxes and fees garnered from the gaming industry, Nevada residents get to pass on paying state income tax. Add in a cost of living that is quite reasonable, especially when compared to other major cities across the country, and Las Vegas starts to look not only exciting, but also affordable!

If all the fun memories you have enjoyed in Las Vegas have you thinking about packing up and making a permanent move, these are just a few of the reasons why the Entertainment Capital of the World is also a great place to make your home.

las vegas strip fireworks

The 4th of July in Las Vegas!

In Las Vegas, where spectacular neon is the official indigenous light source, fireworks displays in the service of holiday celebrations are forced to work that much harder. Nowhere is the competition for people’s attention greater, and if the fireworks are not at least the equal of the surrounding stimuli, they can be rendered redundant.

This has not been lost on Las Vegas fireworks providers. Over the years the nocturnal explosions heralding another year or Independence Day have been consistently inspiring. You should expect no less than another spectacle worthy of Las Vegas itself this July 4th, which (in case you’ve lost track or stopped counting) is the 239th since we informed the British their services would no longer be required.

If you’re staying with us at Tahiti Village over the holiday and want to know where to watch the fireworks – we recommend the Skyview Lounge on the 10th floor of Tower 5 for the best view in Las Vegas – click here for a list of July 4th fireworks locations, viewing tips, parties, nightclub events and food and drink specials.

We wish you a happy and safe Independence Day!

The Convention Goers Guide to Las Vegas

Get the most out of your next meeting or convention in Las Vegas and still have some time and energy to party the night away by following these simple tips and suggestions.

Dress Comfortably

Depending on the convention you may have to stick to a certain code, but you’ll still want to dress comfortably.  When packing for your trip, you should be extra considerate of your feet as you will likely be doing a lot of walking. Also be sure to pace yourself rather than trying to get everything in on the first day. That way you will have more energy to play later on. Keep your energy up by staying hydrated and getting plenty to eat. The famous Vegas buffets offer a great meal option if you are looking for a quick decision and plenty of food. The buffets at the Bellagio and the Wynn are two of the best.

Shows

Be sure to check your schedule and purchase tickets in advance if you would like to see one of the famous Vegas shows. Any one of the eight available Cirque du Soleil productions, such as Zarkana or The Beatles LOVE, offer you a unique evening of fascination and astounding acrobatics. If you are ready to laugh after your long work day, check out Carrot Top at the Luxor or ventriloquist Terry Fator at the Mirage.

Early Morning

If your convention starts a little later, you might find yourself with some time to fill in the early morning. Take a leisurely stroll down the Strip and head inside the Bellagio to check out the Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. For something a little more active, try the TaylorMade Golf Experience, a nine-hole golf course and driving range. Don’t forget to check out the options available at your resort as well. Tahiti Village offers a fitness center, a tropical pool area and a spa that can all be used during the morning.

Late Nights

When your free time is more likely to fall later in the evening, exchange your work clothes for something a little more fashionable and stop by a bar or nightclub. The Chandelier at the Cosmopolitan offers three different bars, so you are sure to find the perfect atmosphere for your tastes.  TAO Las Vegas at the Venetian is one of the hottest clubs in town. This multi-story “Asian City” includes a restaurant, lounge and beach, in addition to the nightclub.

A little planning will ensure that you can make it to all your convention commitments and still find time to squeeze in some fun during your stay in Las Vegas.

Got an extra $350,000 you don’t know what to do with? Buy a ringside seat to Mayweather-Pacquiao

So the Fight of the Century is this Saturday and we all know how it ends. Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao – it matters not which one – will win a disputed decision that necessitates a second mega fight and guarantees everyone involved another enormous payday.

Such a proposition would undoubtedly yield many takers even as a heavy favorite, which makes its absence from the myriad betting lines for the long-awaited clash all the more curious.

Oh well, even if you can’t wager on the likelihood of a controversial outcome you still have your choice of numerous other prop bets.

Like who throws the first left-handed punch.

Were you coming to Las Vegas this weekend hoping to score a prized and increasingly scarce ticket to the fight?

You still can, but it will cost you – a minimum of $4,500 for a spot in the rafters or $351,000 for a ringside seat on online ticket broker StubHub.

Although no one has yet forked over six figures on the secondary market for a ringside seat, news broke yesterday that someone did purchase a single ticket for $41,000. The average annual Las Vegas salary is $46,000.

A measly $150 would have gotten you a ticket to the closed-circuit broadcast at any of the 10 MGM Grand resort properties, but ESPN is reporting those tickets – all 50,000 – are now sold out.

Still want to be in the heart of the action even if you don’t have a ticket? We can put you there! Just board our Strip shuttle to the New Tropicana Hotel and you’ll be at the epicenter. From there it’s just a short walk over the pedestrian bridge to the MGM, where you can join fellow fanatical fight fans and say you were there on the night they fought the Fight of the Century.

Have an opinion on the fight? Care to pick a winner? Share your thoughts with us here!

The Best Family Friendly Attractions in Las Vegas

When tourists think of Las Vegas, the first thing that comes to mind may not necessarily be “family friendly.”  However, behind the allure of casinos, nightclubs and adult reviews, there is actually quite a lot to experience in Las Vegas that is suitable for the whole family.  Here are a few to consider during your next trip.

Springs Preserve

Springs Preserve is a 180-acre, indoor/outdoor compound that exhibits the city’s rich history with lush natural landscapes, animal exhibits and interactive science displays.  The facility has recurring events and classes that are fun and educational for all members of the family – including dog walks, holiday-themed events and children’s story time.

Pinball Hall of Fame

Located just moments away from the Strip, The Pinball Hall of Fame is an interactive museum that boasts a wide array of classic and modern arcade games.  As the name suggests, the space inside The Pinball Hall of Fame is predominantly occupied with pinball machines, but there are also retro arcade games such as Super Mario Bros., Pac-Man and Galaxian.  The facility first opened in 2006 and is constantly acquiring and restoring new equipment to give visitors a new experience during each visit and trip down memory lane.

Las Vegas Indoor Skydiving

If you’ve ever wanted to experience the feeling of freefalling, but without the planes, heights and parachutes, then Las Vegas Indoor Skydiving has you covered.  A Vertical Wind Tunnel is set inside of a room with padded walls and a mesh, trampoline-like floor.  The velocity from the upwind in the tunnel is enough to lift the average adult to experience a comparable feeling to skydiving.  This safe environment is a great spot for all ages that is easy enough for beginners, but offers experienced flyers the opportunity to perform flips and tricks.  When it was built in 1982, it was the first indoor skydiving facility in the United States.

Pole Position Raceway

While go-kart racing isn’t unique to Las Vegas, few facilities around the country offer the level of racing experience that Pole Position Raceway does.  A national brand, Pole Position Raceway offers two locations in Las Vegas with equal amounts of fun and adrenaline for the family.  In addition to the popular “Arrive & Drive,” Pole Position offers driving classes, youth camps and competitions such as Ironman and Elimination.  Pole Position is a great family option due to their availability of higher-powered go-karts specifically for adults, so parents can enjoy the same level of excitement as the little ones.

These are just a few of the options available to families looking to make the most of their time together on their next visit to Las Vegas.  We encourage you to do some planning in advance as there are often deals available for these and many other family friendly attractions in Las Vegas if you keep an eye out throughout the year.
