Mother’s Day in Las Vegas

Celebrate the special woman in your life by creating a Vegas-inspired itinerary that focuses on all things mom-inspired.

Whether you’re a local Las Vegas resident or you’re planning on traveling to Las Vegas this coming Mother’s Day weekend, you can add a little excitement, luxury, and laughter to your celebration by taking your mom out for a full day of fun!

Start the Day with Brunch

Vegas is known for its award-winning restaurants and fine dining spots. This city will pull out all the stops in celebration of mothers everywhere, so make sure you reserve a table because restaurants will be abuzz with activity and Mother’s Day restaurant specials will be in full swing.

The Country Club at the Wynn Las Vegas is a treat for any occasion, but their Mother’s Day brunch is simply amazing. Enjoy an American Steakhouse with an imaginative cuisine overlooking the 18th hole on the verdant Wynn Golf Course. Whether your mom is looking to indulge in a steak cooked to perfection or dive into an amazing seafood spread, you will find it all at this upscale golf club created by Steve Wynn himself.

Hank’s Fine Steaks & Martinis in Henderson is the perfect location to take your special guest. This popular local fine dining establishment offers a terrific brunch and an incredible dinner menu that was recently honored with the AAA Four Diamond Award! At Hank’s, only the finest cuts of meat are served along with one of the best premium dining experiences in Henderson, NV. Enjoy a modern yet mid-century décor with your mom for the best Mother’s Day experience to date.

Honey Salt is another go-to brunch spot in Las Vegas (rated #1 on Yelp), and their fresh American offerings and delectable desserts are the perfect treat for mom.  Experience a farm-to-table meal in an atmosphere that thrives on family, friends, and community. This earthy and modern destination in the desert is perfect for an unforgettable brunch to celebrate all things mom.

Standard & Pour in Anthem offers a stunning brunch menu and a variety of breakfast and tapas/small plate offerings. The goal here is to offer locals and guests in Las Vegas a dining experience that is not a chain, tavern, casino, or a pub, but instead an elegant and unique destination. You’ll find this restaurant on South Eastern Avenue in Henderson, so take your mom out on the town to this one of a kind restaurant, loved by all!

17° South Booze & Bites located at Tahiti Village has a wide assortment of island-inspired dishes and specialty cocktails in an open dining area for an ideal afternoon of relaxation. Treat your mom to one of the best, with cocktails, draft beer options, and an amazing variety of food! 17° South Booze & Bites knows what they’re doing when it comes to special occasions.

Add in a Fun Activity

Think mom might be up for an adventure? Vegas is known for its activities, attractions, and entertainment; there’s really no limit to what you can plan.

The High Roller: Vegas’ landmark Ferris wheel stretches a full 550-feet up into the desert sky and offers unparalleled views of the Strip, Downtown Vegas, and the surrounding areas. Better yet, mothers ride free this coming Mother’s Day, and even get a glass of champagne and a complimentary 4 x 6 photo to commemorate the event.

Indoor Skydiving: Head over to Vegas Indoor Skydiving and feel the rush of a simulated free fall – all in the total safety of Las Vegas’ leading indoor skydiving facility. A 1,000-horsepower fan motor delivers all the thrust you need to send mom flying safely through the air and leaving her feeling like Superwoman for a truly epic adventure.

Neon Museum: Take mom on a visual trip through history and view all the old signage Las Vegas is known for. They offer both day and night tours through the “boneyard,” but it’s best to book in advance as they quickly sell out.

End the Day with Relaxation

A Pool/Spa Retreat: You don’t have to board a plane to spend time in the tropics. In fact, by reserving a suite at the islands-themed Tahiti Village Resort & Spa, you’ll treat her to a Tahitian getaway that includes luxurious suites, incredible pools, a lazy river, a spa, fitness center, and more. It’s a way to let her retreat to a personal oasis from the outside world.

Visit a Local Museum: There are so many to choose from – so pick one or two and leisurely stroll this Mother’s Day. From the Pinball Museum Hall of Fame to the Mob Museum to the numerous art museums located in Downtown Las Vegas in the Arts District, you can custom tailor your excursion to her unique tastes.

Mother’s Day in Las Vegas can be anything you desire. From a laid-back weekend at the pool to an exhilarating ride on one of the city’s most thrilling feats of engineering, you’ll find that there is no shortage of fun things to do in Sin City.

The hunt for hidden Easter candy commences this Sunday morning at Tahiti Village

Young treasure seekers will scramble for hidden goodies at our annual Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, April 16. The event goes from 9-10:30 a.m. and will begin with a meetup at the Island Courtyard. Children 12 and under will hunt in Manihi Isle, while those 13 and over will search the lazy river. More than 3,000 candy-filled plastic eggs will be there for the taking. Bags will be provided.

“This is our most well-attended event,” said Tara Steininger, Tahiti Village activities director. “We’re forecasting 350-500 participants this year. We had 375 last year.”

Following the hunt, participants will return to the Island Courtyard for music, crafts, games, and a jelly bean guessing contest. This a wonderful activity for the entire family.

Drag racer Terry McMillen set to make his first 2017 visit to Tahiti Village. This time get twice the Terry!

When the NHRA Nationals pays its biannual visit to Las Vegas, you can count on Terry McMillen doing two things: 1) Sending his 8,000-horsepower dragster down the track at more than 300 miles per hour and 2) staying here at Tahiti Village when he’s through.

As the official resort of Terry and his crew, we’ll be hosting a meet and greet with the top fuel drag racer from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, ahead of his appearance at the Denso Spark Plugs NHRA Nationals at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Terry will be chatting with fans, signing autographs and posing for photos next to his Amalie Oil dragster from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. beneath the porte cochere. You may even have the opportunity to sit in the cockpit! Terry’s team will unload the dragster at approximately 10 a.m. Refreshments and popcorn will be provided.

If you can’t get enough Terry in the morning, he’ll be making an encore appearance that night during our weekly owners’ night event from 6-8 p.m. at 17˚ South Booze & Bites, our onsite bar and bistro.

For more information on Terry, please visit www.terrymcmillen.com. For more information on the race, please go to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway website at www.lvms.com or www.nhra.com, the National Hot Rod Association’s site.

Plan a Wedding in Las Vegas

From when to book to where to reserve event space, consider these suggestions when planning a Vegas wedding.

Las Vegas weddings can take many forms. You can book your big day at the Elvis Chapel, a place that will marry you for just $77 (cash, by the way) and no appointment is necessary. Or, you can elect for a more extravagant wedding package from the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas, a $100,000 package that includes Harry Winston diamonds and a reception for up to 200 of your closest guests. But if you are like the majority of engaged couples today, you’re probably aiming somewhere in between. Let’s take a look at the most important factors to consider when planning your unforgettable Vegas ceremony!

Best Time of Year

Vegas is always busy, so don’t get too hung up on the specific days of the week or trying to avoid major holidays – this city is always on the go, always has a crowd of tourists, and usually there is an event being hosted. Winter can be a wonderful time in Vegas for wedding events with less of a crowd, and more of an opportunity to maximize on Sin City activities. The city finds relief from its triple-digit, summer temperatures and cools off significantly without being as cold as winter in other areas of the country. With Vegas being a popular destination for weddings, book your preferred venue at least 6-12 months in advance. This city has become more popular as a destination locale, meaning that the perfect venue that you’ve been considering will most likely book up fast! On the other hand, if you are leaning towards the more stereotypical “Vegas” wedding, then one of the many chapels can be ready within the hour.

Where to Get Married in Las Vegas

Once you have an estimate of attending wedding guests, decide on a venue that can comfortably and affordably accommodate the group. If you are looking for a venue that not only offers tremendous wedding and event spaces, but also affordable rooms for guests of all ages, consider a vacation resort like Tahiti Village. Your wedding is the first step to portray your style as a couple for the rest of your lives, so why not customize it to your liking? Let Tahiti Village take care of all your needs from the ceremony to the reception. Your guests will continue to enjoy the party long after the bridal bouquet has been tossed in the air. This Resort is the ideal place to relax and celebrate away from the chaos that cab cine from being on the Strip.

Wedding Theme Ideas

Las Vegas weddings don’t have to be “Vegas-themed,” so decide on the type of wedding you want to have and you’ll likely find the ideal venue near the city. Looking for a light-hearted or unusual wedding experience? You can get married at the Neon Museum, the Nelson Ghost Town in Eldorado Canyon, or even have a “marriage in motion” aboard a party bus cruising the Strip. Keep in mind that venues on Las Vegas Blvd. tend to book up quickly and may be significantly more expensive than those just a mile or less from the center of town. Another direction you can go for your ceremony is to embrace the fact that you’re in Vegas! If you have a particular idea in your head, most likely someone in this city has already done it. Elvis wedding, check. Rock n’ Roll wedding, check. High Roller wedding, check. Drive Thru wedding, seems odd, but check! Las Vegas alone represents the ultimate venue for a custom wedding ceremony, and a great destination to make memories that will last a lifetime.

There are several ways to make your Las Vegas ceremony memorable, fun, and affordable. For more information about event space that can be customized to your unique needs, contact the event planning team at Tahiti Village today!

How to Conduct the Perfect Meeting

The clock is ticking, and your important meeting is right around the corner. You might be planning a team building exercise or a strategic planning session for you and several of your closest colleagues. Regardless of the type of meeting, you’ll want to keep several do’s and don’ts in mind to ensure you pull off a meeting that is memorable for all the right reasons.

Do – Determine the Meeting Goal.

Are you looking to boost your business by rallying the troops? If so, consider whether senior-level leaders can attend your meeting to share information and spawn ideas directly with their teams. Then, tailor the meeting space to comfortably accommodate all attendees.

Don’t – Fail to Plan.

A meeting should be collaborative, but it doesn’t mean you should leave interactions among your guests to chance. Create a checklist and agenda that outlines what you and your team should be working on throughout a series of 30-minute or 1-hour time blocks. Then, provide your invitees with the same agenda so they can self-manage their time and help stay on track.

Do – Select the Right Destination and Venue.

Decide on a destination that makes sense for your event and fits within your budget. Las Vegas is ideal for business meetings, as it is accessible via several time choices for airline flights daily and room rental rates are quite attractive. That, plus the wide range of meeting and event spaces in the city, makes Vegas a top choice. Holding your meeting in a fun environment like Sin City can make the entire meeting experience both informational and exhilarating.

Once you’ve determined your head count, seek a venue that offers plenty of space for you and your guests. A good rule of thumb is 30 square feet per person if conducting a conference, 15 square feet per person for a banquet, 20 square feet per person for a classroom-style event, and 12 square feet per person for a theatre style gathering. Ensure there are plenty of outlets and enough space for any other technical setup required.

Don’t – Forget the Food.

Looking for a way to boost the energy and enhance the atmosphere in the room? Provide attendees with a variety of food and beverages that are easy to eat and don’t require a lengthy sit-down meal process. Finger foods and small plates encourage networking and conversations, so ask your venue to set up an array of small tables around the meeting room to keep people moving. Coffee and tea can help keep guests alert and engaged throughout the event, too.

Do – Ask for Feedback.

Ask questions to learn from your audience, and then use this information to refine future meetings. Business meeting attendees can provide constructive feedback that may serve to steer your future event plans. Create an anonymous survey consisting of a simple list of questions, or assemble an electronic survey that can be emailed out to your team. Either way, ask questions and uncover common threads to help perfect future meetings.

Conducting the perfect meeting is possible when you set expectations upfront, select an appropriate venue in an ideal location, create an agenda, keep people fed, encourage networking and feedback, and above all else, have a little fun. For more information on flexible meeting spaces in Las Vegas, contact the event planning team at Tahiti Village today!
