It’ll be fun, fun, fun this Labor Day weekend at Tahiti Village!

The last long weekend of summer comes to a close at Tahiti Village with an abundance of enjoyable poolside activities and a special luau to benefit Three Square foodbank of Southern Nevada.

The fun starts at 1 p.m. Saturday at our tropical beach pool with a DJ playing tunes till 5 p.m. and Mermaid CaySea entertaining our younger guests from 1-2 p.m. CaySea will also lend her face painting talents from 2-5 p.m. At 6 p.m. singer-guitarist Nick Mattera from our weekly Acoustics & Ale show takes over for a full two hours of unplugged bliss.

On Sunday both the DJ and Nick Mattera return for another round of poolside entertainment. There will also be games, prizes and more on both days as well as Sno-Cones from 3-5 p.m. in our Manihi Isle, the long stretch of green between the pool and the lazy river.

On Sunday night our Bacardi-sponsored summer luau concludes for the year with a Facebook event to benefit Three Square food bank of Southern Nevada. For every person on social media who shares the live-stream event from our Facebook page, we will donate one meal to Three Square up to 10,000 meals to help feed hungry children in the Las Vegas area. As always, the show begins at 7 p.m. and features wonderful entertainment and delicious cuisine.

Las Vegas radio station 104.3NowFM and DJ Supa James will be broadcasting remotely from our luau location, the beautiful Island Courtyard. Be sure to share our Facebook event to benefit Three Square and the hungry children of Southern Nevada.

This weekend we are also unveiling our new signature Tahiti Village drink, the Bacardi Dragon Berry Limónade. It will be available at the main pool bar and 17 South Booze & Bites starting Saturday. The Bacardi girls will also be pouring samples of this delicious new drink at the luau – yet another good reason to attend!

Summer luau concludes this Sunday, Sept. 2, with a Facebook live event to benefit Three Square food bank.

This year’s season-ending luau, a wistful event that marks the unofficial end of summer at Tahiti Village, will conclude on a happy note of hope for the less fortunate of our community. For our last luau of 2018, which we will live-stream on Facebook at 7 p.m. Sunday, we are partnering with Three Square food bank to help feed the hungry of Las Vegas.

For every person on social media who shares the event from our Facebook page, we will donate one meal to Three Square up to 10,000 meals. As always, our Bacardi-sponsored luau will feature delicious Island-style cuisine and wonderful entertainment from our Hot Lava singers, dancers and musicians. For this particular luau, we will be introducing the new official drink of Tahiti Village, the delicious Bacardi Dragon Berry Limónade!

Las Vegas radio station 104.3NowFM and DJ Supa James will be broadcasting remotely from our luau location, the beautiful Island Courtyard. Be sure to share our Facebook event to benefit Three Square and the hungry of Southern Nevada.

Las Vegas for Beginners: What to Know Before Visiting

Las Vegas is a city like no other – which can make preparing for a trip overwhelming if it’s your first time. When determining how to plan for a visit to the City of Lights, it’s best to take into consideration who you’re traveling with, your preferences, and the expectations you have for your stay.

Here’s a general “Vegas for Beginners” guide to give you a head-start on planning and preparations:

What to Pack

Packing for Vegas is entirely dependent upon the season. In the summertime, this desert city can regularly reach triple digits, while winter can bring rain and cool night temperatures. Make sure to take a look at the weather forecast before you start packing to get a general idea of what the weather will be like during your visit. Any planned activities can also help determine what you should bring to Vegas. Pool party lovers will want to pack multiple swimsuit options, while those who love the great indoors may want to pack dressier clothes for air-conditioned dinners and gaming.

What to Prepare For

There are a few things first-time visitors will want to be prepared for, including the following:

*Hot days and cold nights – This weather combo can make packing a little difficult and often occurs in the spring and fall months. Bring a light jacket or sweater for your nighttime strolls through the city so you’re not left feeling too chilly.

*Spontaneous activities – Vegas is full of fun, random attractions that you may not have planned for. Be sure to pack a pair of closed-toed shoes, athletic apparel, and varied clothing types so that you’re ready for any exciting opportunity that may come your way.

*A multitude of food options – Think twice about packing food for a trip to Vegas. The city is full of renowned eateries, ranging from five-star to casual dining. Take advantage of the city’s diverse food scene, even if it means spending a little more on eating out (we promise it’ll be worth it).

*Photo opportunities – Bring a fully-charged camera with plenty of storage to capture all the photo-worthy moments. From dazzling signage to natural desert views, Las Vegas is a treat for both eyes and camera lenses.

What to Plan

Before you plan a trip to Vegas, decide what you want out of it. Are you looking for family fun? A romantic escape? A solo adventure? Knowing what you’re looking for can help you craft a trip that will suit your needs. A trip to Las Vegas should include a mix of planned activities and spontaneous adventures, so make sure to plan strategically.

The activities and attractions you should book in advance are the ones that have the potential to sell out. If you’re heading to Vegas during the busy season, make sure to schedule your dinner reservations and hotel stays in advance. For attractions and things to do, call ahead and ask if a reservation is necessary. Book the activities that have the potential to fill up, but leave some wiggle room for free time so you have time to breathe between activities.

If you’re visiting in the summer, make sure to check out one of Las Vegas’s famous pools. Nothing will help you celebrate summer better than the gorgeous water attractions in the Entertainment Capital of the World. The pool and lazy river at Tahiti Village are known throughout the city for being an oasis in the middle of the desert. The Tahitian-themed pool area has a sandy beach entry, tropical paradise feel, is kid-friendly, and is a fun activity for the whole family to enjoy together.

Las Vegas is a unique city that offers bright lights, culinary delights, fun in the sun, and nights to remember. Prepare for your trip by checking the weather in advance, booking all reservations before they sell out, and saving some time to relax by the pool.

Another one of our unique summer resort activities is located right in the water at the Tahiti Village Las Vegas pool. This may be hard to believe, but we have a real-life, in-house mermaid who spends time with the kiddos out at the pool every Monday all summer long. Mysterious Mermaid CaySea turned up at the beginning of the summer requesting to spend time in the water and although we don’t know of her origins, her sparkly fin, delightful charm, and amazing beauty has entranced us all. Can Seth Grabel fool Penn & Teller? Watch and see this Monday night!

Back in February, a month before his big TV taping for Penn & Teller’s Fool Us magic competition show, spectacular Tahiti Village magician Seth Grabel proclaimed: “It’s going to be one of the craziest things I’ve ever done.”

Immediately and without prompting, he proceeded to describe in graphic detail what can only be called a date with digestion, then made us promise not to reveal the gory specifics. (We promise, Seth!)

Fool Us brings together magicians to perform tricks in front of Penn & Teller. If the famous duo cannot determine how a trick was done, the magician who performed it will get the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform as their opening act at the Rio Hotel & Casino right here in Las Vegas.

Without revealing whether he fooled Penn & Teller or not, Seth said “I did exactly what I planned to do, which is perform the biggest stun ever seen on the show. We made magic happen, and I accomplished my goal of pulling off a stunt I have been thinking about for years.”

The episode, filmed in March, will air Monday, June 23, from 8-9 p.m. on the CW network (KVCW Channel 33 in Las Vegas) right after Seth’s regularly scheduled Monday night performance from 7-8 p.m. in our Tahiti Village Kahiko Room. Don’t miss it!

Family together for a reunion.

Plan a Family Reunion in Las Vegas

Summer is the season for fun in the sun, relaxation, and spending time with family. And what better way to spend time with your loved ones than in sunny Las Vegas? Let us help you plan a family reunion to remember at Tahiti Village.

Why Tahiti Village

Unlike some other resorts in the Las Vegas Valley, Tahiti Village isn’t located on the Strip. This fact alone makes it perfect for family reunions and vacations because it’s less crowded and far quieter than your typical Vegas resort. Families enjoy the slower pace at Tahiti Village, yet the hustle and excitement of the Las Vegas Strip is only a quick 2-mile drive away.

For those looking for maximum value, Tahiti Village doesn’t disappoint. The island-inspired oasis offers large suites – some with fully-equipped kitchens and stackable washer/dryer units – that can accommodate large families and guests of all ages with ease. Add in a massive pool and the mellow, intoxicating Lazy River, and you have a combination that is simply unbeatable. Oh, and we didn’t even mention the Summer Luau!

Things to do in Las Vegas with Kids

Vegas has evolved over the years, and today’s visitor has access to nearly anything their heart desires. If your family reunion includes taking lots of kids along, you’ll want to add some of these attractions to your agenda:

  1. Adventuredome Theme Park: Located under the big pink dome adjacent to Circus Circus, this 5-acre indoor theme park offers rides and attractions that range from toddler-friendly to downright exhilarating. An arcade, mini-golf, 4-D rides and carnival-style games are also on-site.
  2. Tahiti Village Pool: Both kids and adults enjoy the simple things in life. Make sure to schedule a few hours (or days) poolside at the Tahiti Village Resort. You’ll find that families that play together, stay together so slap on some sunscreen, hop in the cool waters and relax amidst the swaying palm trees and island-themed décor of this incredible venue.
  3. Shark Reef: Head over to Mandalay Bay and walk your group through Shark Reef – a 1.3 million gallon exhibit that features a walk-through shark tunnel and more than one hundred unique species of aquatic life. 14 separate exhibits and a calm, cool setting keep kids of all ages entertained and out of the summer heat.
  4. Family-Friendly Shows: From the Blue Man Group to Mystere by Cirque du Soleil and our very own Magic of Seth Grabel, kids, teens and adults of all ages will love the world-class entertainment options available in and around Las Vegas. Check out this comprehensive list of family-appropriate shows that’ll make your visit to the Entertainment Capital of the World an unforgettable one.
  5. Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N.: The Scientific Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network opens up the Marvel Universe and puts kids and adults right in the heart of the action. Leave it to Las Vegas to offer such a unique experience – one where you can see Thor’s hammer, Captain America’s shield and even Black Widow’s weapons and clothing under one roof.

Activities Outside of Las Vegas for Families

  1. Grand Canyon: If you’ve never seen it in person before, the Grand Canyon is way more than just a big hole in the ground. Visitors of all ages marvel in the natural splendor that has resulted from the Colorado River’s diligent work – and adventurous families may even want to check it out by air via one of Vegas’ reputable helicopter tour companies.
  2. Bootleg Canyon Ziplines: If you and your family are thrillseekers, consider heading out to nearby Boulder City where you’ll find Flightlinez, a zipline outfit that certainly puts the ‘zip’ in ziplining. Reaching speeds of up to 60 MPH, you and your guests will traverse more than a mile and a half of the Mojave Desert before you depart back home. If you don’t want to drive out to the desert or don’t have a car, Downtown Las Vegas offers the SlotZilla Zipline that jettisons you above the Fremont Street Experience at 40 MPH!
  3. Wet ‘n’ Wild Water Park: Located just 10-15 minutes down the highway from Las Vegas sits a local favorite – Wet ‘n’ Wild. With more than 25 attractions and water slides, this water park offers something for everyone. Little ones love the lazy river and wave pool, while more adventurous visitors get their hearts racing with massive water slides and thrilling attractions.

Scheduling a family reunion in Las Vegas is the perfect excuse to get everyone together for several days or more of fun and family bonding. Group of friends celebrating the 4th of July.

Get Ready for the 4th of July in Las Vegas

The 4th of July is a big deal in Las Vegas, so make sure you prepare for the party early! Whether your idea of fun is a huge pool party with stellar music and tasty food, or a night out at one of Vegas’ trendiest clubs, there is something for everyone in Las Vegas. Vegas does holidays right, so let’s fill you in on all the hot spots to cheer on the good ‘ol US of A!

Book Your Room

The Strip offers many hotel rooms and options for the intrepid traveler, but this area of Las Vegas tends to get crazy busy during holiday weekends, so you may want to consider a room that is just a bit off the Strip. A hotel in DTLV (Downtown Las Vegas) might be the answer, or a truly off-Strip location like Tahiti Village is always a terrific option. The benefits of staying away from the Vegas Strip when booking your hotel are numerous – including quieter sleeping hours, less crowds, and more affordable suites.

4th of July Activities in Las Vegas

You couldn’t possibly fit all the 4th of July-related activities into a couple of days, so make sure to create a list and check off a few venues and experiences that you consider must-dos. Here are some of our favorites:

  1. Relax by the pool. Sound anticlimactic? Sometimes there’s nothing better than spending a leisurely afternoon by the pool enjoying both the cool water and the toasty heat of the summer sun. If the water is calling your name, book a resort that has a big pool and plenty of amenities that’ll make your time in the sun unforgettable.
  2. Attend a Las Vegas pool party! On a warm, holiday weekend in Las Vegas, prepare for a massive selection of pool parties! Whether your ideal pool party involves getting loud with a thousand of your closest friends or sampling fine wine and small plates at an exclusive poolside enclave, Las Vegas has what you want.
  3. Check out a museum. While visiting a museum might not be the first holiday weekend activity that comes to mind, it’s going to be warm on the 4th and taking an occasional break from the heat will help keep your energy levels up and your body cool. Plus, there are dozens of incredible museums to check out in the area. From the fascinating Mob Museum to Madame Tussauds, the Bellagio Art Gallery to the Neon Museum, you’ll find a little slice of Las Vegas history – and some much needed A/C – when you take a detour to one of these local venues.
  4. Take in a show! The nightlife never stops in Las Vegas, and the week of the 4th is chock full of amazing shows. From David Copperfield’s intriguing acts to the seemingly-impossible stunts on display at any of the Cirque du Soleil shows each night, attending a show in Vegas is a great way to stay cool and witness the theatrics of a live performance.
  5. Watch the fireworks. Our inner child loves bright lights and big bangs, and the annual fireworks shows in and around the Vegas Valley never disappoint. Stroll the Strip for an up close and personal view of the Caesar’s Palace fireworks show (starts at 9:15pm on Saturday, June 30th), or head out toward Lake Mead and take in the Lake Las Vegas fireworks show on July 7th! You can catch more than one show if you’re planning to stay the entire week.

Things to Remember When Visiting Las Vegas for the 4th of July

-Keep in mind that it’ll be crowded, so mentally prepare for that aspect of the holiday week.

-It’s going to be warm, even at night. With daytime temperatures averaging 106 degrees in July, dress appropriately and have a plan that involves taking breaks inside or at the pool.

-Book now! It gets busy this time of year, so look for a resort that is near the center of town but isn’t on the Strip. You’ll generally get a much better deal on a room.

-Since the 4th lands on a Wednesday this year, plan on festivities starting on the Friday before and culminating on the 4th of July. Heading into town the weekend before ensures you’ll have access to the full calendar of events.

Whether this is your first time spending the 4th of July in Vegas or you’re a regular to Sin City, take the time to plan where you’ll stay and what you’ll do (even if that means planning to do nothing by the pool).

Mermaid CaySea is making a big splash in our tropical beach pool all summer long!

Mermaid CaySea, the wondrous result of an unlikely coupling, has found a new home here at Tahiti Village. Her arrival, like her spectacular speckled fin, is a source of great mystery. On Monday, May 28, the blonde hybrid turned up on a cart outside the gate of our tropical beach pool and asked to be wheeled into the water. Although her origins were unknown and her motives unclear, her charm and beauty cast a mesmerizing spell on our pool staff – and they had no choice but to carry out her wishes.

Once inside the pool, CaySea cut through the water like a born descendent of Poseidon, her taut tail smacking the water like a pastel paddle, and she made a beeline for a group of children frolicking in the shallows near the sandy beach bottom entry. Like our pool staff, they immediately clustered around her and were instantly captivated by this most unusual creature. CaySea read them “tales” from her mermaid book and engaged in playful games with colorful plastic eggs.

An hour passed by like a minute, and just as quickly as she had arrived, CaySea announced it was time for her to go. “Noooooo,” cried the kids in unison. She explained that her unique physiology allowed her to stay in chlorinated pool water for just 60 minutes a week, but that she’d be back the same time the following Monday and every Monday thereafter throughout the summer.

You can “catch” her from 2-3 p.m. To quote Mermaid CaySea herself, it’s a “fin-tastic” fun time for all!

Bring on the heat! Summer is officially here with the arrival of our Weekly Sunday Luau!

Gorgeous girls in coconut bras! Daring fire twirlers! A guy with a ukulele! Our signature summer event, the popular Sunday Luau, is back for another great season beginning Sunday, May 27. Join us in our spacious Island Courtyard every Sunday all summer long for a great evening of entertainment from Hot Lava. New to the luau for 2018 is a rotating menu of Island-inspired cuisine from Chef Jason – you’ll never have the same thing twice (or at least not two weeks in row!) – and a new luau drink menu sponsored by Bacardi and Red Bull.

As always, the Hot Lava singers, dancers, and musicians will thrill, delight, and whisk you away to a tropical paradise right here in the desert. Their island offerings include a mix of fun Polynesian songs and hula dances with audience participation. Things really heat up when a master fire twirler hits the stage. You’ll be on the edge of your seat!

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Dinner begins at 7 p.m. with the show to follow. For current VIP and general admission pricing and to reserve your tickets, please call the concierge at (702) 440-6915 or visit the concierge desk in the Tahiti Village main lobby.

Magic Monday! See the amazing Seth Grabel on his new day and time!

Our popular Sunday afternoon magic show starring Seth Grabel is disappearing from its usual day and time and reappearing Monday nights through Labor Day. The first show on the new day is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 28 in our intimate Kahiko Room, where Seth has performed his amazing up-close magic since January.

Seth, an America’s Got Talent semifinalist, will astonish you with a seemingly inexhaustible supply of sleight of hand trickery, astonishing utensil manipulation, mindboggling levitation, and dexterous card virtuosity.  Seth’s sheer magic mastery compares with any Las Vegas magician you might name, and he is the equal of where audience interaction, participation and fun are concerned.

Don’t miss the incredible Seth Grabel on your next visit to Tahiti Village. Tickets are available at the concierge desk in the main lobby building or by calling (702) 440-6915. Grab some before they disappear!
