Got an extra $350,000 you don’t know what to do with? Buy a ringside seat to Mayweather-Pacquiao

So the Fight of the Century is this Saturday and we all know how it ends. Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao – it matters not which one – will win a disputed decision that necessitates a second mega fight and guarantees everyone involved another enormous payday.

Such a proposition would undoubtedly yield many takers even as a heavy favorite, which makes its absence from the myriad betting lines for the long-awaited clash all the more curious.

Oh well, even if you can’t wager on the likelihood of a controversial outcome you still have your choice of numerous other prop bets.

Like who throws the first left-handed punch.

Were you coming to Las Vegas this weekend hoping to score a prized and increasingly scarce ticket to the fight?

You still can, but it will cost you – a minimum of $4,500 for a spot in the rafters or $351,000 for a ringside seat on online ticket broker StubHub.

Although no one has yet forked over six figures on the secondary market for a ringside seat, news broke yesterday that someone did purchase a single ticket for $41,000. The average annual Las Vegas salary is $46,000.

A measly $150 would have gotten you a ticket to the closed-circuit broadcast at any of the 10 MGM Grand resort properties, but ESPN is reporting those tickets – all 50,000 – are now sold out.

Still want to be in the heart of the action even if you don’t have a ticket? We can put you there! Just board our Strip shuttle to the New Tropicana Hotel and you’ll be at the epicenter. From there it’s just a short walk over the pedestrian bridge to the MGM, where you can join fellow fanatical fight fans and say you were there on the night they fought the Fight of the Century.

Have an opinion on the fight? Care to pick a winner? Share your thoughts with us here!

Top Outdoor Adventures in Las Vegas

After a day or two in the Las Vegas casinos and indoor attractions, you might be on the lookout for a little fresh air. Luckily, Las Vegas boasts average January temperatures around 60 degrees Fahrenheit—downright balmy weather for those traveling from frigid climates. Take advantage of this mild weather and hit Vegas’ top outdoor hot spots:

1. SkyJump above the Strip.
Hit North America’s highest jump at the Stratosphere Hotel, Casino & Tower’s SkyJump Las Vegas, which allows you to plummet 108 floors to the platform below. Jumpers must meet height and weight requirements.

2. Hike in the Valley of Fire.
Drive an hour northeast of the Strip to Valley of Fire state park to explore natural rock formations scattered across the desert landscape. The park is open 24 hours and admission is $10 per car.

3. Kayak the Colorado River.
Evolution Expeditions offers Kayak tours that launch below the Hoover Dam (a 40-minute drive from the Strip) and continue downstream through the river canyon. Tours include a stop to hike to natural desert hot springs.

4. Zipline over the Mojave Desert.
FlightLinez at Bootleg Canyon gives you the chance to zipline at speeds up to 60+ mph down the Red Mountains in Boulder City—30 minutes off the Strip. Be ready for light hiking to the first zipline.

5. Hit the greens.
Golfers will have no trouble finding a tee-time in Las Vegas, but those looking for a true golfing experience Vegas-style should try Angel Park. The course offers 36 holes designed by pro-golfer Arnold Palmer and great desert views seen throughout the park..

6. Cycle around Red Rock Canyon.
This Red Rock Canyon natural conservation area is 30-minutes from the Strip and offers sandstone bluffs, seasonal waterfalls and desert hiking trails that allow prime visibility of wildlife. Bike or drive the park’s 13-mile trail. Bike rentals are available outside the park and van shuttle service to the canyon is also available.

7. Snowboard in the desert.
Winter in Las Vegas means snow just 30 minutes northwest of the Strip. The Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort on Mount Charleston sells day passes and offers ski and snowboard equipment rentals.

8. Race a dune buggy.
Traverse desert terrain in a Mini Baja Race course located near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, just minutes from the Strip. Sun Buggy offers this 30-minute desert racing experience complete with buggy rental and transportation to the course.

Looking to get romantic in Vegas on Valentine’s Day? Try one or all of these 10 things and you’ll be in silk pajamas listening to Barry White before the night is through.

Of all the indentured adjectives forced into descriptive servitude for Las Vegas, romantic isn’t among those that come naturally to mind. It’s only with the imminent arrival of that arrow-shooting cherub that the romantically challenged among us here in Sin City are reminded of our yearly Valentine’s Day obligations.

This of course results in a dash to the nearest internet device and a subsequent Google search for “romantic things to do in Las Vegas.” Well who knew there were so many? This place is romantic up the ying yang, so if you’re lucky enough to be in a happy and fulfilling relationship, your task isn’t to find a way to spend the evening under Cupid’s coercion but to narrow the choices.

Don’t worry – you don’t have to move a mouse. We’ve gleaned the contents of page after page after page of lovey-dovey suggestions for your convenience. Only the choicest have made it to this article. The rest is now up to you. Pick and choose your favorites or select all 10 if you’re compulsively ambitious or in the wild throes of fresh love.

And here they are!

What’s the next best thing to massaging each other? Getting massaged together by someone else. Enjoy a 50-minute couples’ hot stone massage at Tahiti Village’s very own Mahana Spa this Valentine’s Day. Contact the spa for pricing and to make a reservation. You’ll be in very good hands.

You don’t have to go all the way to Venice to experience a romantic gondola ride. Just head over to The Venetian Hotel, flag down an authentically-garbed gondolier and behold the city of canals Vegas style. That’s amore!

Rome may be the city of fountains, but how many of them dance like the Bellagio’s? We ask this rhetorically, as a way to elevate the latter’s reputation at the expense of the former and whet your appetite to see this spectacular free water show. You can watch it on the street or inside the Bellagio. This is Vegas, where even fountains are elevated to the level of performance art.

Locals know that an invitation to go watch the planes land is a propositional euphemism. If you’re the literal type and actually like watching planes land, there is a place you can go. The north-facing Eastern Avenue parking lot on the south side of McCarran International Airport gives you an unimpeded view of the big airliners bringing in the precious cargo so vital to the Las Vegas economy. There’s nothing saying you can’t break open a bottle of bubbly and steal a kiss. Or, you know, whatever.

Las Vegas never runs out of ways to spin a wheel, but until the opening last year of The High Roller, you could never take one for a ride. The world’s tallest Ferris wheel at 550 feet, The High Roller offers spectacular 360-degree views of the Strip and Las Vegas valley– especially at night. Just say “I will.”

If you’d prefer to see Vegas from a bird’s eye view, take the City Lights helicopter tour over the Strip and downtown. It takes just 20 minutes – all the time you’ll need to pop the question. Like, where are we eating?

What would Valentine’s be without a romantic dinner? And what’s more romantic than Paris? If you can’t afford a quick trip to the City of Light, Las Vegas comes to the rescue once again. Just book a reservation at the Paris Hotel’s Eiffel Tower restaurant and you’ll not only get a wonderful view of the Strip but the aforementioned Bellagio fountains as well. Request condescending waiters to complete this delightfully authentic French dining experience.

Take the Lake Mead dinner cruise while you can. If western drought conditions persist much longer, it’s possible the lake will be bone dry by 2020. Until then, all aboard! Just remember: Don’t go swimming after eating.

As anyone who has ever tried it could probably attest, attaining membership in the Mile High Club comes with certain risks, namely discovery, embarrassment and arrest. We suppose that’s part of the appeal. So what if you’re risk-averse but would still like to get in on the action? Book a flight with Love Cloud. This Las Vegas company not only encourages the practice of midair amore; it also provides the plane. Talk about the friendly skies.

Planning on getting married in Las Vegas? You’ll need bureaucratic approval. Waiting for a wedding license at the Clark County Marriage License Bureau may not seem romantic, but if the line is long enough, it may at least give you time to reconsider spending the rest of your life with the hottie you met at XS three hours ago.

Love to all!

Tahiti Village

The Best Family Friendly Attractions in Las Vegas

When tourists think of Las Vegas, the first thing that comes to mind may not necessarily be “family friendly.”  However, behind the allure of casinos, nightclubs and adult reviews, there is actually quite a lot to experience in Las Vegas that is suitable for the whole family.  Here are a few to consider during your next trip.

Springs Preserve

Springs Preserve is a 180-acre, indoor/outdoor compound that exhibits the city’s rich history with lush natural landscapes, animal exhibits and interactive science displays.  The facility has recurring events and classes that are fun and educational for all members of the family – including dog walks, holiday-themed events and children’s story time.

Pinball Hall of Fame

Located just moments away from the Strip, The Pinball Hall of Fame is an interactive museum that boasts a wide array of classic and modern arcade games.  As the name suggests, the space inside The Pinball Hall of Fame is predominantly occupied with pinball machines, but there are also retro arcade games such as Super Mario Bros., Pac-Man and Galaxian.  The facility first opened in 2006 and is constantly acquiring and restoring new equipment to give visitors a new experience during each visit and trip down memory lane.

Las Vegas Indoor Skydiving

If you’ve ever wanted to experience the feeling of freefalling, but without the planes, heights and parachutes, then Las Vegas Indoor Skydiving has you covered.  A Vertical Wind Tunnel is set inside of a room with padded walls and a mesh, trampoline-like floor.  The velocity from the upwind in the tunnel is enough to lift the average adult to experience a comparable feeling to skydiving.  This safe environment is a great spot for all ages that is easy enough for beginners, but offers experienced flyers the opportunity to perform flips and tricks.  When it was built in 1982, it was the first indoor skydiving facility in the United States.

Pole Position Raceway

While go-kart racing isn’t unique to Las Vegas, few facilities around the country offer the level of racing experience that Pole Position Raceway does.  A national brand, Pole Position Raceway offers two locations in Las Vegas with equal amounts of fun and adrenaline for the family.  In addition to the popular “Arrive & Drive,” Pole Position offers driving classes, youth camps and competitions such as Ironman and Elimination.  Pole Position is a great family option due to their availability of higher-powered go-karts specifically for adults, so parents can enjoy the same level of excitement as the little ones.

These are just a few of the options available to families looking to make the most of their time together on their next visit to Las Vegas.  We encourage you to do some planning in advance as there are often deals available for these and many other family friendly attractions in Las Vegas if you keep an eye out throughout the year.

Barrett Jackson car show

World’s greatest collector car auction and event coming to Las Vegas tomorrow through Saturday. Sold!

If you’re visiting us this weekend and looking for something to occupy your time before a night of gambling and shows, we recommend the Barrett-Jackson Car Collector Event and Auction at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. This is the event of the year for classic car enthusiasts, and it’s just 2½ miles from Tahiti Village at 3950 Las Vegas Boulevard South.

Come see some of the world’s finest classic vehicles and bid on your favorite. Who knows? Maybe you’ll hit it big at the tables and be able to make a run at that `65 Vette you’ve always had your eye on. Barrett-Jackson also brings together an array of rare automobile memorabilia. Unique dealership signs, hood mascots, transportation toys, gas pumps and garage relics will be sold to the highest bidder. The event begins at 8 a.m. daily and runs tomorrow (Sept. 25) through Saturday. Admission is $45. Don’t miss it!

4th of July in Las Vegas

July 4th Fireworks To Light Up The Night Sky Over Vegas

Fireworks in a place like Las Vegas would seem to be almost beside the point if the city itself weren’t a testament to excess. Not enough neon? Hey, let’s set off some sky explosions! Like New Year’s Eve, July 4th brings out our redundant, over-the-top best, with spectacular fireworks displays lighting up the night sky all over the valley.

This year is no different. By our count there are 11 fireworks shows scheduled for Independence Day night. So if you’re staying with us over the holiday and looking to bring in the 4th with a bang, you’re in luck. But where can you watch? Don’t worry; we’ve taken care of the details. Please click here for a list of all the locations offering firework shows, either for free or a fee.

We wish you a happy and safe Fourth!

Who’s up for a spin on The High Roller? Odds are you’ll love the view from the world’s tallest Ferris wheel.

Just when you thought Las Vegas had run out of ways to spin a wheel, along comes The High Roller – a giant Ferris wheel that, at 550 feet, is the tallest in the world. The High Roller opened March 31 and is the centerpiece of The Linq, a $550 million retail, dining and entertainment district on the Strip between the Flamingo Hotel and The Quad.

The observation wheel has 28 pods that can accommodate 40 people each. At full capacity, more than 1,100 people can ride The High Roller at the same time and enjoy a spectacular 360-degree view of the Las Vegas valley. The ride lasts 30 minutes, and each pod is equipped for video and musical presentations.

Ticket prices are $24.95 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and $34.95 from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. An express pass is available for $59.95 if you don’t want to wait in line. There is also a one- and three-day flex pass for $44.95 and $54.95 respectively.

Don’t miss The High Roller on your next visit to Las Vegas. Getting there from Tahiti Village is easy. Just board our free Strip shuttle. The observation wheel is just across Las Vegas Boulevard from the Mirage, one of our two Strip drop-off locations.

Because this is a brand new attraction, Caesars Entertainment is currently not offering complimentary or discounted tickets to its timeshare partners. Your best chance at receiving a discount would be to check with a Total Rewards location at one of the Caesars Entertainment Las Vegas properties to see if they are providing any specials to their rewards club members. The rewards club is free to join and can be found in all Caesars Entertainment Las Vegas locations. We’ll be sure to let you know if and when Caesars enters into a High Roller ticket partnership with us.

Vegas Fireworks 2013

As many of you know, Skyview 510, our 10th floor lounge at the top of Tower 5, offers a panoramic view of the Strip. The balcony is a great location from which to view the radiant evening skyline of Las Vegas. This is especially true on New Year’s Eve, when fireworks dot the night sky with wondrous and colorful explosions in an extended eight-minute demonstration of shock and awe. If you’re staying with us this New Year’s Eve and want to catch the display without fighting the Strip crowd, Skyview 510 offers the perfect vantage point. Take the elevator to the 10th floor of Tower 5 and marvel at the spectacular midnight fireworks display that harkens the arrival of 2014. It’s one of the best shows in Las Vegas.
