About PBR Last Cowboy Standing

The history of PBR is a fascinating and interesting story. It all began with a handful of riders in 1992, and has since expanded into the fastest growing sport in America. PBR matches the best cowboys against one another and each competitor has to ride the toughest bulls for 8-seconds. Talk about a pure adrenaline rush and man versus beast! Ultimately, the “last cowboy standing” wins cash, prizes, and his claim to fame. This beloved pastime has awarded more than $140 million in prize money over the last two decades, so the stakes are high for these professional athletes.

Now that we know a little more about the overall history of this great American sport, let’s learn more about this annual competition. Last Cowboy Standing has the best 40 bull riders in the world, all competing for the ultimate $100,000 prize. Not only does the winning cowboy receive cash, but they’re also granted bonus PBR world standings points. For each cowboy to advance from round to round, they must make the 8-second buzzer and the competition continues until one cowboy remains. The cowboy that rides the most consecutive bulls becomes the last cowboy standing!

Last Cowboy Standing Schedule

If you’re planning on attending this desert rodeo, there are some things you should know before you go. The event is all weekend long, so plan your Las Vegas trip accordingly. You could throw a pre-rodeo party at your Tahiti Village Resort Suite or take the group down to the pool for a cowboy-themed pool party (the kids are sure to love it!). If your party wants to pregame on the Strip, head to the PBR Rock Bar & Grill inside Planet Hollywood for a rodeo-themed shindig.

After the pre-festivities, get to know the PBR schedule. Here are the details:

-When – Friday, May 4th thru Sunday, May 6th

-Where – Thomas & Mack Center

-Time – Friday & Saturday @ 7:45 p.m. and Sunday @ 1:45 p.m.

-What Type of Event to Expect – Bull Riding, 40 Contenders

-Prize – $100,000 and PBR World Standing Points

Athletes in PBR

You’re probably wondering, who are some of the top riders in Professional Bull Riding in 2018? Well, these PBR events wouldn’t be what they’ve become without the cowboys (and bulls) behind the show. Below are some of the top PBR athletes and bulls that you should keep your eye on this year.

PBR Riders

-Ramon De Lima – With a #1 world ranking at only 27, De Lima has proven that he has what it takes when it comes to the rodeo. After winning his first career premier series event at the Wrangler Long Live Cowboys Classic, he showed his humble side by shaking hands with every person who came up to say congratulations. De Lima is one rider you don’t want to miss.

-Luciano De Castro – Coming in as number 3 in the world rankings, De Castro received his first-ever win at the PBR event, Unleash The Beast, Bad Boy Mowdown in Little Rock, Arkansas. De Castro was the only rider during this event to go 3-for-3 in his events, proving himself as a world-class cowboy.

-Jose Vitor Leme – Finally we have Leme, coming in as 4th in the world rank. As a child, Leme spent many years playing soccer, which helped him perfect his skills and learn how to make quick adjustments during a high-speed sport. Keep an eye on this quick and muscular 21-year-old throughout the many PBR events of 2018.

PBR Bulls

-SweetPro’s Bruiser – World Rank #1 with a 75% buckoff rate.

-Pearl Harbor – World Rank #2 with a 100% buckoff rate.

-Spotted Demon – World Rank #3 with a 100% buckoff rate.

Now that you know a little more about the history of the sport, who to keep your eye on for the year, and the details behind the event, it’s time to get your ticket to this year’s PBR Last Cowboy Standing! If you’re only looking to attend one day of the Last Cowboy Standing, the Monster Energy Cup Supercross is also in Las Vegas on May 5th at the Sam Boyd Stadium, as well as the LVL Up Expo May 4-6 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Quite a busy Spring weekend in the desert!

Easter Sunday is shaping up to be a hopping good time for the entire family at Tahiti Village, starting with our annual Easter egg hunt on April 1. Young collectors and their parents should meet at 9 a.m. inside the Island Courtyard to receive their egg bags and prepare for the hunt, which will go off at approximately 9:15 a.m. for the first age group (up to five years old), 10 minutes later for the second age group (6-12), and 10 minutes after that for the third age group (13 and over).

They will soon be joined there by the second and third groups sporting their own candy-filled eggs. Woman tipping her hat to an extra hour of sunshine.

How to Spend Your Extra Hour of Evening Sun in Vegas

We probably can’t complain about lack of sunshine in Las Vegas, but even so, springing our clocks forward on March 11th and getting an extra hour of daylight is something to be celebrated. How are you going to spend your extra hour of evening? In a city jam-packed with activities and entertainment, the Las Vegas outdoor attractions are endless.

Here are some of the best ways to spend your extra evening hour in Vegas:

Dine and Drink Outdoors

Enjoy the extra hour of sunshine by indulging in food and a couple drinks al fresco. There’s nothing like feeling the sunshine on your skin while you enjoy some delicious snacks and libations. The gorgeous Vegas afternoons, now elongated by the time change, present the perfect setting to sit back and enjoy a meal with loved ones. One of the best al fresco patios in Vegas is 17° South Booze & Bites at Tahiti Village. Decadent starters like Calamari and Spinach Cheese Dip lead the way into an indulgent outdoor meal in Las Vegas. Favorite entrees include Steak Frites, Atlantic Salmon Filet, and Slow Cooked Ribs. Wash that down with a signature cocktail like the Chocotini or the Manhattan and you’re sure to kick Spring off with a bang!

Explore the Grand Canyon

One of the best perks of visiting or living in Las Vegas is the close proximity of the Grand Canyon and a longer day means more opportunity to appreciate its beauty! Take advantage of the convenient location and go explore! Whether you like to sit back and take in the views or partake in some canyon adventuring, there is a Grand Canyon activity for you. Boating, hiking, observing, walking, rock climbing, and even riding in a helicopter are all options. If you’re interested in having someone guide you through, visit Grand Canyon Tour Company. Knowledgeable experts with extensive Grand Canyon experience will lead the way as you take in the magnificence of this world-famous attraction.

Watch the Sunset from Above

Vegas sunsets are beautiful and the longer days give you more time to make an activity of watching them. Want to go on a hike or walk after work to get the perfect view? Go ahead. Always wanted to catch a ride on the High Roller in time to see those gorgeous colors? Now you can! Daylight saving gives you the opportunity to experience the desert sunsets as they’re meant to be experienced. To catch the sun setting on the city from above, head over to the High Roller observation wheel. Each ride takes about 30 minutes, so if you time your boarding right you’ll catch the sunset at the very top.

Peruse Outdoor Markets

Forgo the grocery store and pick up your market necessities at one of Vegas’ farmers markets. Many people choose to shop at farmers markets instead of conventional grocery stores because the produce is extra fresh and it’s an outing in itself. You’ll find ready-to-eat meals, groceries, services, and goods. Bring your family and friends and say goodbye to stuffy, corporate grocery stores. Favorite Vegas farmers markets include the Downtown 3rd Farmers Market, Fresh52 Farmers and Artisan Market, and the Downtown Summerlin Farmers Market.

Walk and Hike

Though most think of Vegas as a flat desert, there are plenty of walking and hiking opportunities in and around this desert city. Take advantage of the extra hours of sunlight by getting outside and being active. You’ll notice both physical and mental benefits, including a boosted mood, stronger body, and less stress. If you’re more the walking type, check out the parks and botanical gardens at Springs Preserve. If hiking’s more your thing, check out the trails at Mount Charleston!

Lounge by the Pool

Of course, no Vegas afternoon would be complete without lounging by the pool. Daylight saving time gives you an extra hour to sit back and enjoy one of the best Las Vegas outdoor activities. A favorite pool for both locals and visitors is the Las Vegas Pool and Lazy River Complex at Tahiti Village. Spend your extra hour of sunshine moseying along the lazy river or sipping on a cocktail in a lounge chair. The options are endless when it comes to having a good time at the pool.

There are plenty of activities in Vegas that make an extra hour of sunshine worthy of excitement. As March 11th approaches, think about what you’d like to get out of the extra time in the day. There’s sure to be a Vegas offering that’s just waiting to exceed your expectations!

Get to know Seth Grabel, Tahiti Village’s resident magic man!

Seth Grabel’s persistent climb up the magic ladder didn’t come quickly or easily, but when he finally arrived at the top, it was in front of a national television audience on America’s Got Talent. His spectacular performance on the hit show earned him standing ovations from judges Howie Mandel and Sharon Osborne and a self-evident nickname (“The Showman”) from judge Piers Morgan.

For some, the pressure may have brought on a bout of spotlight-induced stage fright and subjected them to the piercing sound of failure – the dreaded red buzzer! Not in Seth’s case. When it came time to seize the moment, he didn’t shrink from the challenge.

The notoriety he received from AGT led to more television exposure. Seth soon found himself appearing on a variety of shows, including Bravo’s Millionaire Matchmaker, Animal Planet’s Tanked, Extra’s Talk Soup and network television.

Seth’s mindblowing performances on these largest of stages could have easily created the illusion that he simply conjured his abilities into being. In fact, they were years in the making. As a child, Seth had an interest in magic and mystery, and through years of hard work and dedication – he would spend hours in front of the mirror honing his amazing sleight of hand skills – his passion eventually became his profession.

Discovered by the Amazing Johnathan, a fellow magician and longtime Las Vegas favorite, Seth soon found himself performing alongside him. He worked with Johnathan for three years, calling the experience one of the most incredible in his life. He learned many helpful lessons in the process, and took seriously Johnathan’s advice to create a distinctly Sethian personna.

Since then, Seth has performed across the country and halfway around the world in Asia, in front of countless celebrities and dignitaries.
We are happy to showcase this uniquely talented performer in our intimate Tahiti Village Kahiko Room, where Seth showcases his mind blowing skills every Sunday at 4 p.m. Tickets are available at the concierge in the main lobby, or you can call (702) 440-6915.

You’re sure to be amazed!

Magician Seth Grabel to make official Tahiti Village debut this Sunday afternoon. It’s interactive! It’s early! It’s kid friendly!

Last Sunday, in a rehearsal performance a week before his official Tahiti Village debut on Jan. 14, magician Seth Grabel wowed a roomful of invited employees and their guests with a seemingly inexhaustible supply of sleight of hand trickery, astonishing utensil manipulation, mindboggling levitation, and dexterous card virtuosity.

He was also incredibly funny and engaging.

I was in the audience and can say, without reservation, that Seth’s sheer magic mastery compares with any Strip magician I’ve seen, and he surpasses them all where audience interaction, participation and fun are concerned. Seth never lacked for willing human props, and if they experienced any initial trepidation, he quickly put them at ease with madcap question and answer ventriloquism and subsequently blew their minds with incredible how-did-he- do-that artistry.

Watching him live, it is easy to see how Seth was an America’s Got Talent semifinalist and a guest on numerous other TV shows, including Animal Planet, EXTRA, and E! Seth’s show is decidedly family-friendly (the kids in the audience were completely captivated) and, with a 4 p.m. start, it’s a great way to begin your evening in Las Vegas.

If you’re staying at Tahiti Village this weekend, or you live in Las Vegas and want to get out of the house on a Sunday afternoon, I wholeheartedly recommend taking in the Seth Grabel show inside the second floor Kahiko Room above Denny’s. Doors open at 3:30.

Tickets are available at the concierge desk in the main lobby or by calling (702) 440-6915. Get some before they disappear!
