Why Tahiti Village is a Better Choice than the Strip

As a valued Vacation Club owner, you already know why staying here at Tahiti Village is so much nicer than staying on the Strip. It’s the reason you became a timeshare member with us in the first place. But in case you haven’t been here in a while and are looking for a few good reasons to come back, here are some reminders why Tahiti Village beats the Strip.

  • Tahiti Village is a tranquil and tropical paradise where you can get away from it all. The Strip? It’s a lot of things but tranquil and tropical it isn’t
  • You can still have a traditional Las Vegas experience when you stay with us. Our free Strip shuttle drops you into the heart of the action, making stops at the top and bottom of the hour at two hotel-casinos seven days a week
  • You won’t find a lazy river at any Strip resort. It’s only here, waiting for you to slip into an inner tube and float carefree around an island with four waterfall features
  • Our aquatic attractions are open year-round and our adult and family hot tubs are open 24 hours. Don’t be the one to tell your aching muscles there’s no relief in sight because the Bliss Bath adheres to arbitrary “hours of operation”
  • We care about your lungs – no smoky casino!
  • Strip hotels don’t like you to leave the property. We schedule tours to Red Rock Canyon and the Fremont Street Experience
  • Our guest units far and away exceed the standard Strip hotel room for spacious comfort and homey amenities, which include private bedrooms, a full kitchen and washer-dryer. Kick back and stay awhile
  • We like families! No other resort in Las Vegas offers the breadth of daily fun-filled activities designed expressly for kids. Childlike adults welcome
  • Three words: Sunday Summer Luau. Our popular weekly luau, featuring authentic Polynesian cuisine and entertainment, is the only event of its kind in Las Vegas

So there you have it: nine reasons to stay at Tahiti Village instead of on the Strip. We’re sure you can easily come up with a 10th – and probably a lot more. So why wait? Book a stay with us and start working on some!

Lobby remodel will have us looking better than ever

The final stage of our lobby renovation, a comprehensive yearlong project that included the relocation of the WikiWiki and the grand opening of 17° South Booze & Bites, began last week with beautification preparations. Removal of the old wall décor was just the first step in a complete redesign that will give us a fresh, modern appearance.

The project will bring new chairs and couches, tables, carpeting in four different areas, and decorative space dividers that will create separate seating areas. A deep cleaning of the wood floors and a recovering of the wall columns will put the finishing touches on the renovation, the completion of which is expected by Thanksgiving. We think you’ll most definitely approve!

Get twice the Terry at our favorite drag racer’s next visit

You say you can’t get enough Terry? You say one three-hour appearance twice a year doesn’t cut it? You say you want even more?

You asked for it, you got it!

For his upcoming visit to Tahiti Village, top fuel drag racer Terry McMillen will make not one but two – two! – personal appearances on Wednesday, Oct. 29. The first will be outside the main lobby building from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The second is inside the main lobby building at 17° South Booze & Bites from 5-7 p.m.

During the first event you’ll have the opportunity to sit inside Terry’s 8,000-horsepower dragster, get an autograph and pose for pictures, and win great prizes. That night Terry will hold a meet and greet at our new bar and bistro. Proceeds from the sale of a special pink drink, the Terry McTini, will benefit breast cancer support group She4Life.

Terry’s pink Amalie Oil dragster, which he races every October in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month, contains the names of individuals who have survived or regrettably succumbed to the disease. Please click here to learn how you can adorn Terry’s car with the name of a friend or loved one who has fought or is fighting breast cancer. Tahiti Village is Terry’s home when he makes his biannual trips to Las Vegas to compete in NHRA events. If you’re on property this coming Wednesday, please join us for a good time and a great cause. It’s Terry x 2 at Tahiti Village!

Experience our two most popular tours in one day

Las Vegas is a city of contrasts, set as it is in a valley surrounded by mountains and lit by neon. Nowhere is the incongruity between the organic and synthetic more conspicuous than Fremont Street, in downtown Las Vegas, and Red Rock Canyon on the western edge of town. Perhaps no two attractions in Southern Nevada offer a more revealing look at the paradox – or are more frequently visited.

If you’re staying here at Tahiti Village, you have the opportunity to see two breathtaking but completely different visual feasts, achieved in two totally different manners, on the very same day. Every Tuesday and Wednesday we depart for Red Rock Canyon in the morning and Fremont Street in the evening. It’s the best way to show you contradictory sides of the same city in as short a timeframe as possible and achieve the most powerful impact.

The tour leaves for Red Rock Canyon at 8 a.m. and can attract upwards of 30 visitors eager for a look at thrusting slabs of sandstone that can disappear in low-lying clouds on overcast days. The 13-mile Scenic Loop cuts an undulating, circuitous route through the canyon, offering unparalleled views of the rocks and desert landscape leading to them. Don’t miss it.

Tuesday and Wednesday night (and Monday nights through October 27) we make three trips (5, 7 and 9 p.m.) to the Fremont Street Experience, a behemoth canopy that runs the length of Glitter Gulch from Main Street to Las Vegas Boulevard. The “Experience” is a series of hourly light and animation displays that appear on the underside of the 90-foot high canopy, which consists of more than 12 million LED lights. If you want to experience both sides of Las Vegas, you’ve hit the jackpot. Please see the concierge to sign up for both tours.

We thank our valued employees for helping us earn another coveted RCI Gold Crown Resort designation

In celebration of our third consecutive year achieving RCI Gold Crown Resort status, we threw a party in appreciation of the people who made it happen: our fantastic employees. More than anyone else, they are responsible for us once again earning the most prestigious designation in the vacation ownership industry.

Employees from every department gathered at the Island Courtyard today and feasted on a catered lunch buffet from Memphis Championship Barbecue, enjoyed music from our resident spin doctor DJ Brit Lee, and participated in contests for the opportunity to win food and entertainment gift certificates.

“I am so grateful,” said front desk clerk Maria Sanchez, who won a $25 gift certificate to Regal Cinemas. “Thank you so much.”

“This is a small token of our appreciation for you guys doing a great job,” Tahiti Village general manager Mike Rounds told the assembled. “I am proud to work with all of you.”

Achieving the coveted RCI Gold Crown Resort designation is dependent almost exclusively on RCI member feedback through post-departure surveys. RCI visitors are asked to rate their experience on a 1 to 5 scale in check-in/checkout, resort hospitality, resort maintenance, unit housekeeping and unit maintenance.

The fact we have been able to consistently earn high marks is testament to the pride and work ethic of our employees, and we sincerely thank them for their efforts in helping us maintain our status not only as a preferred RCI property but also a place you can be proud to call your home resort.

Tahiti Village Facebook page receives its 5,000th “Like”

Faster than we could have asked or hoped for, our Facebook page recently achieved a milestone we wouldn’t have anticipated in December. The fact it has achieved 5,000 likes in just nine months is a testament to the efforts of our staff, the enthusiasm of our fans and, above all, the influence of social media. As we rocket past 5,000 on the way to what we hope will be many more positive affirmations, we thank all our valued owners for taking the time to visit our Facebook page and click “Like.”

17 south tap beer lineup offers new traditional faves

17° South tap beer lineup offers new, traditional faves

With a lineup of more than 20 to choose from, 17° South’s tap beer selection is sure to satisfy the taste “Buds” of all but the biggest craft beer snob. No matter what your persuasion, we’ve got you covered up and down the bar. Our “crafty” beer offerings, while not technically craft beers since they exceed the maximum yearly number of brewed barrels, have a kinship with them in spirit and approach to brewing experimentation.

So step up to the bar and enjoy a Dogfish Head or an Arrogant Bastard, a Shiner Bock or a Deschutes. If you’re reluctant to stray too far afield, we also have a fine selection of “new traditional” favorites, including Stella Artois, Sam Adams, Blue Moon and Fat Tire, the ever popular Guinness Stout, south of the border stalwarts Corona and Dos Equis, and of course American warhorses Bud, Bud Light, Miller Light and Coors Light.

For those of you who enjoy movie dialogue with beer references (we know you’re out there), don’t read anything into the inclusion of Heinken and Pabst Blue Ribbon on our beer menu. It’s just a coincidence, not a cleverly veiled reference to Dennis Hopper’s famous rejoinder in Blue Velvet. So, what kinda beer you like? Chances are you’ll find something to savor over a bite to eat or a game of video poker at 17° South Booze & Bites.

Squawk Is Returning For More Shows

A Little Birdie Told Us Squawk Is Returning For More Shows

Squawk the Show, an amazing 60-minute demonstration of fine feathered feats, is returning to Tahiti Village May 10, 17 and 24. Debbie and Mark Obarka’s team of talented parrots delighted and confounded audiences here all last month, painting pictures, playing cards and even reading minds! See Squawk the Show in the Island Courtyard at 6 p.m. Saturday on the above dates. Once you’ve seen a parrot solve a math problem, you’ll think to yourself, `Oh, so that’s how you do it!’

Squawk Is Returning For More Shows

Tahiti Village is going to the birds this Saturday

Imagine an upside down world in which humans had the brains of birds (we know what you’re thinking; just play along) and birds the brains of humans, and in that world the birds could train the humans to fly, catch worms and say “Polly wanna cracker.” In short, teach them to do many of the things birds can do all for the enjoyment of the birds. It would make for fascinating viewing and undoubtedly draw numerous feathered spectators to watch – provided the birds had had the foresight to turn it into an entertainment spectacle.

That’s kind of what Squawk! the Show is like here in our right-side up world, where the birds – parrots, to be specific – perform amazing feats once thought to be the purview of humans. Fortunately for us their trainers, Debbie and Mark Obarka, did have the foresight to turn it into an entertainment spectacle. We are delighted to present it to you this Saturday night, April 5, and each and every Saturday night in April. Showtime is 6 p.m. in the Island Courtyard.

If you didn’t think it was possible for birds to paint, play cards, solve math problems and read minds – yes, read minds! – this quickly moving hour-long show will amaze, amuse and remove all your preconceived notions about what our fine feathered friends are capable of. (That is, if you had any preconceived notions. Who knew?)

Debbie, Mark and their amazing pet parrots have worked all over the country and been seen by more than 2 million people at their live performances.  They have appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman, Animal Planet’s PetStar and America’s Got Talent.

Don’t miss Squawk! the Show during its limited engagement at Tahiti Village. In addition to their Saturday night shows, the parrots will also perform at our annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 19, from 9-11 a.m. at the Island Courtyard.
